Imago ScanSource, the video solutions company, has been appointed by Array Telepresence, the US-based developer of Equal-i, a solution that allows users of existing video conferencing solutions in standard meeting rooms to transform their environment and enjoy an immersive Telepresence-quality experience. Imago ScanSource will distribute Equal-i through its reseller channels in the UK, France and Germany.
The Equal-i image processor from Array is designed to upgrade video conferencing endpoints to immersive Telepresence at a fraction of the costs usually associated with high-end systems, and makes use of customers' existing VC platforms and furniture. Equal-i technology combines image improvement algorithms and an image processor, which sits between a specially designed camera and the video conferencing codec.
Amongst the many visible improvements are better clarity of those participants sitting furthest from the camera, which is achieved by increasing the pixel count on their faces by 6.5 times that of a PTZ camera, and 'Equal-i-sing' their size to the size of closer participants. The Array solution also improves vertical eye-line, the meeting format takes on an 'across the table' experience, stand-up capture is enabled, and it powers a wide-format display using a single codec with no impact on bandwidth.
Array Telepresence participated in the Imago ScanSource hosted 'Collaboration Heavyweights' event in London last Autumn, and will also be featured in "The Business Breakthrough Event", which takes place tomorrow at the Brewery, Chiswell Street, London.
"The quality of the video created by the Array solution has to be seen to be believed," said Ian Vickerage, Managing Director of Imago ScanSource. "It has been created with attention to detail, so that with very little outlay video conferencing users can transform their existing traditional VC set-ups and create a truly immersive Telepresence experience. Array attracted a huge amount of attention at our event in London, and we are now very enthusiastic about bringing their solutions to a wider audience following our distribution agreement."
