Splunk Inc., the software platform for real-time operational intelligence, has announced that Snap Interactive, Inc., the social application developer, is utilising Splunk software to foster key business decisions and quickly uncover insights into user behaviour and engagement. With Splunk software, Snap Interactive can make key decisions faster and better engage its users.

"SNAP Interactive has well over a billion data points from its users, and with Splunk software we can more easily analyse and react to our data in real-time," said Clifford Lerner, CEO, SNAP Interactive. "When we began using Splunk Enterprise, we quickly realised the benefits and additional value of having a real-time analytics platform integrated with our key business data. With the recent re-launch of our flagship product AreYouInterested.com, Splunk provides real-time insights into key business metrics, enabling us to better understand the behaviour of our millions of users and making it much easier to find important relationships across different countries, cities and demographics. "

SNAP's product teams test new features with a subset of users as often as 10 to 20 times per day. Utilising dashboards within Splunk software, SNAP's development team reports that it can see in real-time increases in engagement and exactly how different A/B tests are performing. This new environment enables SNAP Interactive to iterate more quickly – ultimately benefitting users with an improved, more engaging product.

In addition, SNAP Interactive uses Splunk software to analyse reaction to the millions of emails that Areyouinterested.com generates each day. Splunk software has provided SNAP with greater insight into the emails that customers find most engaging and has allowed the company to make significant improvements to email deliverability. This real-time view has also helped SNAP protect its reputation and brand by avoiding having its emails incorrectly blacklisted as spam, which naturally can have a negative impact on any business.

"The ability to use Splunk to quickly drill down and see any anomalies in email sending patterns or deliverability has already generated returns well in excess of the cost of the software," said Geoffrey Brookins, Vice President of Engineering at SNAP Interactive.

"Splunk is an extremely powerful platform that gives us views into complex data sets in a way that was previously very complicated and labor intensive." said Jon D. Pedersen, Sr., SNAP Interactive's CFO. "Having easier access to such a wide range of data across key business metrics has increased our ability to dig deeper into our data and improve the accuracy of our financial decision-making."

"SNAP's story is another great model for Splunk customers on how to discover more value from their machine data," said Steve Sommer, chief marketing officer, Splunk. "SNAP embraced the Splunk platform with its innovative development testing program, and took it a step further by incorporating business data with IT data. Now, Splunk software provides views of SNAP's data for people across the organisation, from development and product teams to finance and executives, enabling SNAP to provide a better product for their customers. Organisations that unify and analyse IT and business data together will enjoy operational intelligence across the enterprise, faster decision-making and a significant return on investment."
