Box Technologies, provider of customer interface technology solutions, has announced that a range of its customer-facing technologies played a key role in the launch of the House of Fraser's first two new format concept stores, House of Fraser.com. These opened in Aberdeen on the 21st October and in Liverpool on November 22nd 2011.

The new stores are the first of their kind and will focus on House of Fraser's Buy & Collect proposition. At 1500 sq. ft., the smaller format stores do not stock merchandise. Instead, a series of large format ELO Touch Screens and computers are used to order products, which are then delivered the following day to either the customer's home or to the store for collection. This gives customers direct access to over 1000 brands stocked on House of Fraser's recently redesigned website, which include exclusives such as Biba and Mary Portas' label, through to stalwarts like Polo Ralph Lauren, Chanel and MAC.
This truly multi-channel retail experience relies on the latest in customer facing technologies. Box Technologies was involved throughout the planning and implementation stages of the process and used its many years of experience in the retail sector to specify, supply, install and commission the hardware, whilst working with House of Fraser's in-house team to integrate the concept and deliver the software.

Personal customer service is key to the overall concept, with a complimentary coffee bar and comfortable seating encouraging a relaxed shopping environment. Inspired by the level of service given by a hotel concierge, an assisted sales service is offered with sales advisers helping customers' to navigate House of Fraser's online offering, assisting them with the process from product selection to on-line secure payment.

46" ELO touch screens provide the main customer interface utilising the MediaTile interface linked to proprietary software from House of Fraser. 55" Sony LED digital signage screens provide customer information throughout the store, and for payments, Box Technologies supplied Toshiba PC's with SpacePole mounting solutions from Ergonomic Solutions.

Robin Terrell, Executive Director of Multi-Channel comments, 'House of Fraser.com is an entirely new concept and the launch is a pivotal moment in the development of our multi-channel business, which has seen online sales increase by 107% in the first half of the year.

We were delighted to partner with Box Technologies who provided an end-to-end solution for us and has been instrumental in bringing this concept to fruition. We are delighted with its functionality, and even at this early stage, it is providing an excellent customer shopping experience.'
