Honeywell has announced the availability of Remote MasterMind (ReM), a remote scanner management system that provides IT administrators with a convenient way to manage all barcode scanners within their network from any remote location.

Now available for purchase in EMEA (Europe, the Middle East and Africa), ReM is a browser-based stand-alone solution that can be easily incorporated into existing enterprise networks, eliminating the need for changes to IT infrastructure. Compatible with more than 20 Honeywell products, this UPOS-compliant tool simplifies the updating, monitoring and management of scanner performance.

"The ability to manage and control hand-held, hands-free and bioptic scanners has reached another level with the introduction of Honeywell's Remote MasterMind," said Greg Root, director of software and services marketing, Honeywell Scanning & Mobility. "This solution allows our customers to achieve productivity savings, a greater return on investment, and one of the lowest total costs of ownership in the industry."

ReM can help reduce maintenance costs and make managing all scanners within a network seamless and easy by providing instant access to information such as where devices are located, current configurations, and performance metrics. Enterprises can reduce their carbon footprint and fuel costs by managing all of their devices from a central location, even when those devices are deployed across multiple sites or countries. Managed through a browser-based GUI, ReM can provide intuitive information on system efficiency and other monitored metrics.

ReM delivers the five value drivers of remote scanner management; each can be instantly performed from any single remote location without disrupting the performance of the scanner.

Asset Tracking Retrieve scanner data including serial number and location without manual tracking or on-site visits;

 Firmware Upgrades Upgrade the firmware of one scanner or all scanners with the click of a button to quickly enhance device performance;

Configuration Management Update the configuration of one or thousands of scanners to help ensure consistency and lower support costs;

 Scanner Diagnostics Monitor scanner health such as hardware status and communication errors to proactively detect and correct issues before they cause disruptions;

 Performance Metrics Review scanner performance and extract metrics such as scan counts for better insights into the efficiency and productivity of the enterprise.
