Extreme Networks has announced the integration of its core-to-edge BlackDiamond, Summit X250 and X450 switches into Targetspaces revolutionary Baskerville House managed office space in Birmingham by one of the UKs leading Integrated Services Communications provider essensys.
The full-scale Baskerville House is the ultimate intelligent building and includes the very latest IT and telecoms as demanded by the companies wishing to rent space within the facility.
essensys installed Extreme Networks switching solutions throughout the building, which boasts a fifteen rack, 1,500 square foot data centre, 100MB internet connectivity, 500 Mitel 5340 IP phones, network based IPTV, IP CCTV cameras and a full audio visual suite.
One of Birmingham's most prominent landmark buildings located in the heart of the city, Baskerville House offers seven storeys of flexible modern working space with a dramatic glazed roof creating an additional two office floors at the top of the building created in contemporary steel and glass. The stunning new roof and full height glazing creates excellent open and light floor areas with superb views across the city.

Integral to the implementation was Extreme Networks BlackDiamond 12800R series switches, designed from the ground-up for high service density, to help enable metro service providers to increase revenue opportunities with more subscribers and more services per subscriber.
In addition, essensys implemented eight Summit X450 and 15 Summit X250 switches. The powerful and compact Summit X450 series switches are based on the revolutionary ExtremeXOS core-class Operating System (OS), a highly resilient, modular OS that offers high availability and greatly enhances manageability.
Extreme Networks Summit X250e provides high availability and performance at the edge of the network. Its advanced traffic management capabilities support large scale converged network rollouts and supports devices such as IP telephones, wireless APs and other devices that require power from a LAN connection as well as the regular, computing devices such as desktop and laptop computers.
Extreme Networks solutions were perfect for the Baskerville House implementation, enthused Furness. It maintains high performance from core to edge, has fully featured edge devices, a unified and modular operating system with XOS, a first-class management system in Epicentre and with the phones from Mitel, a robust and highly featured VoIP solution.
