Kaseya announces new security module updates

KASEYA EXPANDS MANAGED SERVICE AUTOMATION SOFTWARE WITH ADVANCED CAPABILITIES AND ADDS END POINT SECURITY MODULE

Kaseya, a global provider of Managed Service Automation (MSA) software for IT solution providers and corporate IT organisations, has announced the availability of two significant advancements for its IT management framework. The offerings include new feature updates for the companys MSA software and the introduction of an end point security solution module, made possible through an OEM agreement with AVG, a leading security solutions software company that has been dedicated to delivering the most comprehensive and proactive protection available since 1991.

The Kaseya End Point Security (KES) solution is fully integrated with the Kaseya IT framework and offers anti-malware protection. Through technology from AVGs award-winning anti-malware product line, KES brings world-class security to endpoints managed with Kaseyas IT framework by the companys IT service provider and large, distributed corporate customers.

Security is a major concern for anyone involved in the IT management industry and we have seen a substantial demand among our customers for security solutions that will work effectively within the Kaseya IT management frameworks, said Jim Alves, executive vice president of product marketing at Kaseya. Kaseya is happy to be able to fulfill this need and offer an application which ensures that our users have access to the best protection available.

AVG is delighted to help make it easy for Kaseyas customers to protect against even the most malicious attacks and threats, said Larry Bridwell, Global Security Strategist of AVG. We are always eager to contribute to the growth of emerging IT trends and our partnership with a leading MSA software provider like Kaseya is a great way for us to aid in the development of how managed services are delivered.

KES is configured, deployed and managed from the same Kaseya interface that administrators utilize to manage their computing environments. There are no separate consoles, interfaces or programs for users to learn. In addition, the Kaseya interface allows administrators to centrally manage security profiles defined and deployed to managed computers to establish best practice information.  Detected information is logged within the system and available for executive summary and detailed management reporting.

Updates to the system are handled automatically on a scheduled basis, eliminating the need for administrator interaction and ensuring that the protection remains current.

Key features of KES include:

  • Anti-virus; virus, trojan and worm protection
  • Anti-spyware; Spyware, adware and other malicious program protection
  • Centralized management and executive reporting
  • Automated deployment- set it and forget it
  • Integrated monitoring, alarms and detailed reporting
  • Automated program and database updates
  • Security profiling; unique, automatic threat removal/anti-spyware engine
  • E-mail protection
  • File system protection (and NTFS data stream protection)
  • Proactive protection; resident shield with access scanning
  • Quality proven by all major antivirus certifications (VB 100%, ICSA, West Coast Labs Checkmark)

Many managed service providers have steered clear of security and anti-virus offerings because of the administrative aspects of trying to keep things up to date, according to Jeffrey M. Kaplan, managing director of THINKstrategies, Inc. By integrating these security capabilities into a single interface, Kaseya is enhancing the visibility and effectiveness of MSPs and IT administrators.

The ability to monitor security status and alerts within the overall management interface is a critical asset for our business and ability to more efficiently support our customers, said Frank Hughes, vice president of SecureMyCompany. The Kaseya IT management framework has enabled us to dramatically build and strengthen our service portfolio, and the KES integration is a welcome addition to the Kaseya functionality.

Additional Advances in Back-up and Disaster Recovery, Remote Control

Kaseya has broadened the support of its back-up and disaster recovery module with the inclusion of the Universal Restore capability. The addition of this technology provides administrators with fast and flexible recovery capabilities. This functionality includes bare-metal recovery to dissimilar hardware or to a virtual machine.

Knowing that its MSP and corporate customers may need to support additional platforms remotely including Microsoft Vista - Kaseya has included the Enterprise VNC remote control package within version 4.8 of Kaseyas Managed Service Automation software, providing users with improved performance along with full support of Microsoft Vista. The addition of VNC also lays the foundation for the future extension of the capability to systems running operating systems beyond Microsoft Windows.

Additional enhancements include updates to patch management, network and systems monitoring, along with other system management and security capabilities.
