Lantronix enters remote product services equipment market with enterprise scalable end-to-end device management platform

New ManageLinx hardware and software suite and Device Network Architecture Framework enables easy deployment of remote M2M management and control applications

Lantronix, Inc. has announced a new product platform family, ManageLinx, a suite of hardware and software solutions that provide secure, seamless remote access and management capabilities to virtually any networked device residing on the other side of a corporate firewall. The company also introduced the Lantronix Device Network Architecture (DNA), a machine-to-machine (M2M) technology framework that integrates all Lantronix product offerings to deliver a full range of device networking solutions. Together, the Lantronix DNA and ManageLinx platform will accelerate the adoption of remote product service business models that enable original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and managed service providers (MSPs) to use the Internet to remotely monitor, diagnose and service their customers equipment. 

Lantronix Device Network Architecture provides a framework for integrating the complete range of Lantronix customisable platform solutions including device enablement products and device management and control products. Lantronix device enablement solutions are comprised of the DeviceLinx family of embedded and external device networking platforms including the XPort, WiPort, UDS and WiBox product lines. DeviceLinx allows OEMs and end-users to network-enable electronic devices to be accessed and controlled over a network or the Internet. The Lantronix device management and control platforms include the Lantronix SecureLinx family of products that provide secure remote IP-based management of IT/data centre infrastructure equipment, and the new ManageLinx product family for remote product services in virtually any vertical market.

The Lantronix ManageLinx solution is ideal for OEM companies or MSPs providing remote product maintenance services and departments tasked with internal 24/7 service support to mission critical equipment. ManageLinx provides a fully secure, globally scalable connectivity solution for accessing remote devices that are located behind the end users corporate firewall. This enables service personnel, located outside the firewall to monitor, configure, control, and/or reprogram any Ethernet connected device using a consolidated view of managed devices from anywhere in the world through a standard web browser. Supported device servers include both Lantronix and other vendors device server products allowing customers to easily leverage existing hardware investments. OEMs and MSPs can deploy their custom applications to interact with devices to gather important data, monitor the state and health of the end device and provide advanced control, all via the connectivity provided by ManageLinx solutions. To gain access for remote service, management, control or data collection, companies can use their existing broadband connections and eliminate the recurring monthly costs of dedicated phone lines as well as the related equipment used for dial-up access.

ManageLinx is a software and hardware platform offering a suite of specialised software services including advanced device discovery, access, security, configuration, monitoring and 3rd-party application integration. Customers can easily expand their applications as their needs change by adding these optional services. The ManageLinx platform also incorporates a line of hardware appliances that eliminate the complexities of configuration management and ongoing maintenance by offering pre-packaged functionality on a standard hardware platform. 

Increased pressure from asset owners/operators for higher uptimes, and internal mandate to improve service profitability, is compelling manufacturers across industries to incorporate Remote Product Service (RPS) solutions into their sales and support strategy, said Amit Jain, research director at the AberdeenGroup. With the aid of embedded sensors and wireline or wireless connectivity, RPS solutions enable manufacturers to remotely capture and analyse asset condition, identify root causes of failure, and trigger corrective action. Such actions could range from proactive technician and/or part dispatch to conducting remote repairs and upgrades. Fully 70% of the best-in-class service organisations we recently surveyed are using RPS solutions; noting improvements such as 38% increase in customer retention, 23% increase in asset uptime and 30% reduction in technician dispatches. We expect the RPS technology to continue to gain momentum at a double-digit growth rate. . Lantronix provides that end-to-end device networking capability needed to make RPS viable via its ManageLinx platform and its DNA technology framework.

As technology and business interact with smart products, an array of new opportunities will evolve, namely Smart Services, said Glen Allmendinger, president of Harbor Research. These Smart Services will enable everyday electronic devices to communicate with and control each other while creating a new generation of information tools such as managed services that will improve customer satisfaction by diagnosing and resolving equipment issues before they escalate. Lantronix Device Network Architecture and the launch of its ManageLinx products both enable and accelerate the delivery of these new services.

The ManageLinx solution will be available worldwide in late summer through Lantronix and approved partners.
