NEW EVENT SETS THE SCENE FOR STORAGE TECHNOLOGIES IN THE UK SMB MARKET EVITO Launches New Data Storage Conference

IT event management specialist EVITO, has announced StorageScene UK, the companys first independent conference, which will take place at The Madejski Stadium in Reading on 21st and 22nd May 2007.

Today the large majority of SMBs purchase data storage solutions from the channel; at StorageScene end users will be able to discuss their needs with the countrys leading resellers, while vendors will have the opportunity to expand their channel strategies and hear directly from end users about the IT challenges that they face every day.  Confirmed sponsors to date include ACAL, LeftHand Networks, Posetiv and QLogic. StorageScene UK 2007 is supported by SNIA Europes UK Committee and will feature tutorial sessions from its representatives on a number of key technologies.  The Tuesday conference sessions will be chaired by Chris Mellor, storage editor of the IDG online publication Techworld.

When it comes to data storage SMBs often face similar challenges to those experienced by larger enterprises. However these issues are not solved via large-scale data centre solutions such as country-wide disaster recovery strategies but by careful planning and partnerships with specialised suppliers, said Paul Trowbridge, director at EVITO. Today StorageScene is the only SMB-focussed event bringing together the industrys end users, resellers and vendors.

On Monday 21st May the event will focus on helping UK-based distributors and resellers develop their businesses; a workshop hosted by ChannelMoney, a premier business advisory organisation with a proven track record in the IT channel, will be hosted by Nitin Joshi the Companys co-founder and director, who will be joined by Eddie Pacey, finance director at Bell Micro. This session will be followed by a speed dating reception where channel organisations and vendors will have the opportunity to discover and discuss new business opportunities. .

EVITOs plans for StorageScene make it a must for channel players looking to develop their business in the data storage field.  Our interest is to help raise the bar, providing access to finance and making available the tools needed for channel businesses to improve themselves, commented Nitin Josh. We are the first port of call for professionals who are serious about their future and we are regularly involved in discussions on mergers and acquisitions. ChannelMoney is proud to lend its name to the event.

"ACAL is pleased to be supporting StorageScene.  We believe that the storage-related market for medium-sized organisation in the UK is not well catered for today and EVITO's plans to work with the channel in reaching that market is a breath of fresh air," said Paul Reeve, director at ACAL Storage Networking. "StorageScene will not only bring new end user business opportunities to the channel, but deliver new business development ideas and give resellers the chance to widen their network of supplier relationships."

On Tuesday 22nd May over 150 end user SMB delegates are expected to attend a day of plenary and workshop sessions.  Lined up as a key-note speaker is Andrew Wilkinson of worldwide legal counsel Squire Sanders, who will be covering the topics of data retention, protection and security and how the various EU and UK governmental regulations affect todays business. Also featured in the plenary sessions will be a representative of the Information Commissioners Office in the UK who will highlight the specific factors affecting medium-sized business when it comes to data protection and retention.
