Print security and cost management software creates channel opportunities for 45% increase in solutions-driven sales

Kyocera Mita has announced KYOcontrol  Business Edition, an out-of-the-box solution offering cost management and secure printing. The solution is designed for SMBs and departments of larger companies up to 500 users. Cost control and document security are increasingly important requirements for Kyoceras customers and KYOcontrol is an easy-to-sell solution which will generate further revenue opportunities for channel partners.

Nigel Allen, Head of Product Management at Kyocera, comments: KYOcontrol makes it easy for our channel partners to respond to customers demand for a simple means of monitoring print costs and securing their documents. It enables our partners to develop a truly consultative relationship with their customers, offering opportunities for further hardware sales as the customer takes action to optimise their print network.

According to research  conducted by InfoTrends, companies could achieve an estimated 19 per cent saving on total document output costs by more effectively tracking and better managing document output (Source: InfoTrends, The Paper Chase: A Customer Perspective, 12 May 2006).  KYOcontrol  Business Edition enables companies to realise cost savings by analysing users document production.  It allows a company to successfully manage its device infrastructure and optimise the use of colour and monochrome printers for the most efficient outcome.

KYOcontrol  Business Edition also enables companies such as those in the legal, health and education sectors to increase document security. Print jobs are sent to a central print server, safely stored via encryption. When the print-outs are needed, the user identifies himself at the Kyocera printer or multifunctional of his choice by using a convenient ID card. The device retrieves the document from the server and starts the print run. This prevents confidential or sensitive materials from sitting unattended and unclaimed at printers. With the Print&Follow feature, the document follows the user to wherever they choose to print. A shared printer can therefore act as a personal printer, protecting confidential information.

The new solution, which is compatible with Kyocera Mita printers and multifunctional products, helps Kyocera Mita business partners to increase solutions-driven revenue.  This is important in a market where, according to research from InfoTrends, revenues from hardware-only sales are declining, and will have decreased by six per cent by 2009.  In contrast, revenues from solutions-driven sales will increase by 45 per cent* by 2009 (Source: InfoTrends, InfoTrends Forecast WE Hardware/Software Pullthrough, February 2006).

KYOcontrol is a combination of software and hardware.  Each box contains the items needed to run the solution and provides support for one device and 20 users, including: a card reader; a network card; 20 ID cards; and a software CD.  Dedicated to Kyocera Mita devices, KYOcontrol  Business Edition will support a maximum of 25 devices and up to 500 users.

KYOcontrol  Business Edition will be available from February at a price of 899. KYOcontrol will also be offered in an enterprise version. As a highly customisable output management solution with no user limitations, KYOcontrol Enterprise can be adapted to meet the requirements ranging from SMB to large companies.
