KODAK i1200 and i1300 Series offer new and unique features to improve user productivity

Eastman Kodak Company have announced the launch of new workgroup and departmental level scanners, the KODAK i1200 and i1300 Series, thereby setting new industry standards in terms of design and functionality.  Capitalising on its over 75 years of document management know-how and commitment to deliver the most innovative and feature-rich scanner product portfolio, the new scanners have the smallest operational footprint available today, combined with a series of new unique features to improve ease-of-use and practicality.

The new Kodak Scanner Series consists of four distinct models:
i1210 simplex and i1220 duplex for workgroup applications, and the i1310 simplex and i1320 duplex for departmental applications. All scanners feature ultrasonic multi-feed detection.

The KODAK i1200 and i1300 Series can scan a wide range of documents from wallet-sized plastic ID cards to A4 paper, even long documents like credit or insurance applications, loans, medical monitoring strips and geological exploration monitoring logs. To ensure customers achieve immediate benefits from the scanners - without the need for further IT or software costs - Kodak is including a feature-rich software bundle which has applications to enable basic document management and optical character recognition KODAK Capture Software Lite, Nuance SCANSOFT PAPERPORT and OMNIPAGE respectively.  KODAK Capture Software, Lite

The i1200 and i1300 Scanner Series offer maximum capability and flexibility for any paper intensive environment including finance, accounting, insurance, corporate, healthcare, education, transportation, law offices, government agencies indeed any organisation looking to streamline its paper workload.

As the volume of business documents increases and compliance issues place document management under added scrutiny, scanning is becoming an integral part of the corporate environment. The need to achieve high image quality as quickly and easily as possiblewhile keeping both prices and the actual equipment space requirements low are what these scanners are designed to do said Hauke Fast, Product Marketing Manager, Document Imaging, Kodaks Graphic Communications Group.

The i1200 Series is designed for workgroup applications with a scanning speed of 30 pages per minute, while the i1300 is aimed at departmental level usage with up to 60 pages per minute in black & white, greyscale and colour.

The four models are available in versions for single-sided and double-sided scanning, and come with Kodaks enhanced Perfect Page image-processing technology to ensure high-quality scanned images.   Perfect Page has features to de-skew and crop images, along with dynamic iThresholding which automatically adjusts the brightness and contrast of documents, no matter what order they are scanned in.  This immediately improves staff productivity as images dont have to be rescanned or settings altered on a per document basis.

Kodak includes industry first scanner innovations

Attachable, tethered flatbed accessory   The optional, detachable, tethered flatbed unit  connects to the scanner base using a two-metre cable. This means it can be placed to best suit space and workflow requirements as well as capturing fragile or bound documents at high optical resolutions of up to 1200 dpi.  Most competitive scanners do not have such flexibility while the few that do, only offer a fixed mechanical connection.

Tilt and scan Scanner users often have to physically bend around their scanners in order to operate the units. The new KODAK scanners are the first in industry to have been ergonomically designed and include an adjustable feeder which means the angle can be conveniently set to accommodate ad-hoc or batch scanning jobs for any available workspace.

Smart touch scanning sending images to different destinations can be a complicated procedure, and the KODAK i1200 and i1300 Scanners now have Smart Touch scanning capabilities which simplifies this whole process.  At a touch of button, end-users can now easily scan documents to print, network folders, desktop applications or automatically create searchable PDFs and emails.

Fast says, The innovations built into these scanners are unmatched in terms of performance, image quality, versatility, ease-of-use, and affordability and reflect Kodaks years of experience in document scanning.  Most importantly, weve listened carefully to the needs of our worldwide customer base, launching new solutions which address their ever changing requirements.

The new scanners were exhibited at the AIIM On Demand Conference & Exposition in Philadelphia, USA last month.

The scanners come with a 1-year European Warranty with advanced unit replacement and 4-day response time as standard. Customers have the option to upgrade to a 3-year Warranty with next-business day response.  Kodak Service & Support, is the leading service provider for the document imaging industry.

Depending on model, the list price  is expected to range between 800 and 3,000.

All four scanners will be available through Kodaks channel partners from Mid July 2006.
