Whilst gaining rapid ground in the UK LCD and plasma bracket market, fast-moving manufacturer, Skunkworks, has signed its first major distributor in Europe.
The Skunkworks brand of flat-screen mounting solutions was launched in the UK in 2005 in response to the growing demand for flat screens. Already a well-established brand in Australasia, Skunkworks was well taken up because of its extensive range and affordable prices.
This week it announced its first notable European deal, signing major IT distributor, Elettronica Sillaro srl. in Italy, to distribute its range.
Elettronica Sillaro is one southern Europes major IT and electronic suppliers. Established in 1977, the company has an annual turnover of $20 million. Negotiations with Skunkworks (part of Novita Ltd) were successfully concluded, with the signing of the distributorship this week. In financial terms, the deal will make a significant contribution to Novita Limiteds revenue.
The scope of the distribution will take in all the major electronic retailers, including Misco, Mworld and Mediamarkt (or Mediaworld), throughout Italy. In time the distribution may be expanded to take in the other regions where these stores are also represented. For example, Mediamarkt alone has 361 superstores around the EU.
To Elettronica Sillaro, the Skunkworks range represented an attractive low-risk, high margin addition to their stable of high-tech products. The company sampled the products in 2005 and during that time they received consistent feedback from their distribution network as to the quality and design of the Skunkworks line.
Made from laser cut steel with brass bushes, the products are meticulously engineered to be both robust and flexible. With almost zero warranty issues and excellent distributor and re-seller margins, Elettronica Sillaro has embraced Skunkworks, commenting that it is a welcome departure for us into the more stable and profitable low-tech end of the market.
Since 2004 Skunkworks brand has been growing in strength throughout Australasia. This is the first major deal for the UK company and Novita Limited which will service the distributor agreement with Elettronica Sillaro.
the range, of over 60 products, accommodates every variety of flat screen from flat screen TVs and PCs to the top end plasmas. Each model adheres to the international industry standard, with plasmas and very large screens taken care of with a choice of super sturdy universal mounting kits.
The Skunkworks range of brackets includes options for mounting screens flat-to-the wall, as well as on extendable arms with 360-degree movement of the screen. There is also a unique multi-arm system for the workplace that accommodates multiple screens. The mounts have fully adjustable tilt, pan and extendable options, providing viewing flexibility whilst hiding the mechanism that makes them so practical.
Also in the range are innovative plasma trolleys, ceiling poles, point-of-sale stands, projector mounts and integrated work-stations.
Skunkworks is defined in the dictionary as "a group of people, who in order to achieve results, work on a project in a way that is outside the usual rules". Added to that is the companys own motto: why pay more for the things you cant see and accordingly it supplies quality, affordable brackets that provide an unseen solution for showcasing flat screens.
