KODAK Scan Station 100 terminal delivers scanning to email, print, file or USB drive without the need for a PC, backed by industry leading Kodak service and support

Eastman Kodak Company announced today an innovative new type of office solution, the KODAK Scan Station 100.  Combining high-quality scanning of paper documents with intuitive operation, it enables people to then share documents via e-mail, save them to a network folder, send them to a network printer or copier, or store them on a portable USB drive - all from one device and without the need to be connected to a dedicated PC.

The KODAK Scan Station 100 has taken the design qualities that people appreciate most in our digital cameras and walk-up kiosks and brought them into the office environment, said Hauke Fast, Product Marketing Manager, Document Imaging, Kodaks Graphic Communications Group.  While sharing paper documents in a digital environment shouldnt be difficult, a lot of copier-based, multi-functional peripherals (MFPs) make it that way for the average user. The Scan Station 100 is designed to improve the user experience and office productivity by keeping a simple office function just that - simple.

Unlike other products on the market today, the Scan Station 100 does not require a dedicated computer, additional software or training to operate because it connects to existing network infrastructure using 10/100 Base-T Ethernet.  It features intuitive and interactive operationincluding image preview of scanned images prior to sharingfrom the touch screen.  Instead, the KODAK Scan Station 100 is specifically geared to work with existing networked printers with lower per-page costs, making it a smarter purchase for an office or purchasing manager.

It can scan a wide variety of paper documents of up to 34 inches in lengthas well as smaller and thicker items including plastic insurance cards or drivers licenses.  It can scan documents into JPEG, TIFF, PDF, or Searchable PDF file formats, using Kodaks Perfect Page technologies to produce high-quality scanned images, with resolutions up to 600 dpi and 25 pages per minute.

In order to be successful in todays competitive business environment scanners need to deliver walk-up simplicity whilst offering enhanced document communications, said Mark Nicholson of InfoSource, a leading industry analyst firm. With the launch of the Scan Station 100, Kodak has addressed these requirements directly by introducing a fully-featured network scanner offering one-touch operation.

The KODAK Scan Station 100 is easy to install, easy to use, and easy on the supply budgetall while increasing productivity and delivering outstanding image and colour quality, especially on challenging documents in terms of colour rendition and physical condition, Fast said.

The KODAK Scan Station 100 is ideal for use within large, and small-to-medium or paper-intensive businesses typically in the finance, accounting, insurance, healthcare, transportation, law and government sectors.  For example, the Scan Station 100 might be used in the following ways:

Branch offices can scan and send loan applications to a banks central processing department for approval
A law firms administrative assistant could scan vital client documents that are simultaneously routed to a network file available to its legal team and e-mailed to solicitors at another firm.
A delivery service driver scans daily delivery documents which are quickly and easily transferred to the delivery companys internal billing systemand subsequently to each customers respective account.

Kodak offers even more value for the Scan Station 100 through extensive Help Desk support and warranty enhancements.
