Windmill Hill drives sales with Gyricon Messenger

Windmill Hill Pro Golf Shop in Milton Keynes has become the first UK retail user of a new portable point of sale signage and promotions system that enables the shop to boost sales.

Gyricon Messenger is a WiFi-enabled fully portable point of sale signage system.  It can be driven by a standard wireless network and so does not need any network cables nor special radio network to be installed. The display units are portable so can be positioned anywhere in the store, on the shop counter for instance so that people view special offers while they are in the queue to pay or in the shop window to attract passing trade.

The system can display single signs or rolling slide shows of several product promotions and informational signs.  The display can automatically be changed by a schedule to respond to the interests of the customers in store or for instance, showing advertisements for golf repairs or fitting service on the days that they are available.

The system is the result of a partnership between global information technology solutions and services company, Episys and Gyricon LLC, a developer and provider of SmartPaper technology and wireless network eSignage solutions, as part of its strategy to bring the benefits of advanced signage to its customers.

Nigel Rix, Episys commercial director, said, Retailers can now develop their own promotions for electronic displays. Because the signage system is portable and wireless enabled retailers do not have to have network engineers or IT departments to use this new solution.  Thus any retailer can promote their products in completely new ways, which will lead to higher sales.
