PRINTRONIX LAUNCHES XML-BASED THERMAL PRINTING AND CONTROL PLATFORM

Printronix, the leading integrated supply-chain printing solutions manufacturer, today introduced XML Forms Printing and its XML connectivity and control interface, called PXML,(tm) for the 5r Multi-Technology Thermal Printing Platform.

"Printronix's exclusive PXML interface delivers to the industry a flexible and robust real-time network solution interface," said Andy Chapman, chief technology officer and senior vice president, engineering and product marketing, Printronix. "PXML allows third parties to configure, manage and control 5r printers, and their hosts to communicate and understand each other directly from an application without additional software or layers. This capability is incredibly important to supply chain-driven businesses seeking to improve profit margins and productivity through improved data and printer management as well as simplifying RFID implementation."

Adapt Business Processes to Changing Compliance Standards with XML
XML, or Extensible Markup Language, employs commands to identify data content and enables business applications to interface and exchange data content seamlessly. Printronix's XML Forms Printing gives users the ability to print bar codes easily and encode radio frequency identification (RFID) smart labels as they adapt their business processes to changing compliance standards. Oracle has tested and certified Printronix's new XML printing capability. The Printronix XML Forms Printing includes embedded forms templates for Oracle's WMS, MSCA and RFID Edge Server. In addition, Printronix tested its XML Forms Printing in SAP's facilities, and it includes SAP's AII embedded templates.

With Printronix's XML Forms Printing, customers have a choice to enable their printers at the factory or in the field, allowing users to scale their XML implementation as needed.

Many software integrators support Printronix's XML Forms Printing already, including Acsis Inc., Ciber Inc., ClearOrbit Inc., Cognizant Technology Solutions, Computer Sciences Corp., ConnecTerra Inc., InfoLogix Inc., Infosys Technologies Ltd., Patni Computer Systems Ltd., Peak Technologies, TATA Consultancy Services, VeriSign and Wipro Technologies.

Monitor, Manage and Control Printronix Thermal and RFID Printers with PXLM
PXML, or Printronix Extensible Markup Language, is an XML-based printer connectivity and control capability that allows third parties to control and monitor print jobs and printer status exclusively on the 5r printer. Developed with open XML standards, PXML allows industry leaders of printer and RFID device-management software to interface easily with Printronix 5r printers. Connectivity and control solutions no longer require proprietary software and, therefore, savings in software design, support and maintenance is immediately recognized. Without additional middleware overhead, PXML enables independent software vendors to deliver a single software solution to monitor, manage and control a 5r printer or group of printers in addition to their print jobs and status. These solutions can be driven from a central or remote location across the enterprise between applications and suppliers.

CapTech-Tagsware, Connecterra Inc., EPC Solutions International, Franwell, GlobeRanger, IBM Websphere, IDVelocity, Sybase/Ianywhere, TagsWare, Tyco Sensormatic and Vue Technology Inc. also have signed up to embed PXML into their products.
