Canon UK & Ireland, a leader in digital imaging technology, today announced it has appointed Andy Vickers to head up its Business Solutions (CBS) division, as CBS Country Director.

Vickers, who joined Canon from Hewlett Packard in November last year, will take over the role in January 2006 as part of a promotion that will also see him become Canon UKs new Managing Director, replacing Lars-Erik Kennbert who is to retire after more than 30 years with the company. He will be joined on Canon UK & Irelands senior management team by Alessandro Stanzani, who becomes the new Country Director of the companys Consumer Imaging division (CCI).

During his tenure as a director at Hewlett Packard, Andy Vickers was responsible for managing all HPs sales channels in the UK and Ireland, as well as associated sales and marketing activity. With more than 20 years experience in the industry, Vickers has also held senior positions at Dell and Compaq, where he was national sales manager, general manager of specialised sales, and director of both alliances prior to the companys merger with HP.

Alessandro Stanzani, who will join the UK organisation in October, is currently Canons European Head of Marketing for Consumer Imaging. An Italian national, he held a variety of senior marketing positions in Canon Italia before playing a key role in the start up of the new pan-European consumer organisation, headquartered in Amsterdam. Stanzani has had great success with the development of a core model for European marketing, including an integrated Marketing and Communications platform.

The new management team structure will be responsible for maintaining Canons strong position in both consumer imaging and business solutions into 2006 and beyond.

Commenting on leaving the company and the appointment of his successor, Lars-Erik Kennbert, current Managing Director of Canon UK & Ireland, said, Andys experience and his contribution to date proves his ability to rise to the challenge of heading up Canon UK & Ireland and I look forward to continuing to work closely with him in the coming months, before I retire. I have greatly enjoyed working at Canon UK & Ireland over the last five years and it has been pleasing to see the growth and successes that this world-class organisation has experienced. Its also great to be able to welcome Alessandro to the team. His fantastic European experience will be invaluable to our future success

Commenting on his appointment, Vickers said I am delighted to take up this new challenge, and would like to thank Lars-Erik for handing over the reins of the company at a time when were experiencing record performance and have a very exciting future ahead. Lars-Eriks contribution to the business has been significant, and Im looking forward to helping Canon UK & Ireland grow further and build on its current success.
