NEW PORTABLE LABEL PRINTER IS TOUGH, LIGHTWEIGHT AND FAST

The MB200i has been totally redesigned to overcome the shortcomings which up to now have been part and parcel of most portable label printing systems, while including all the advantages of wireless technology and interface options.

"We have looked at the common complaints about portable label printers in general and addressed them with this new model," explained SATO Marketing Manager David Roome. "Users found some machines too heavy or not strong enough to withstand constant use in busy industrial environments. Batteries, we were told, would often not last long enough to complete a task or a days work and recharging was taking too long. Operators complained that they were always having to reload labels. Print speeds also compared unfavourably with desk-top models. All of these issues detracted from the advantages of having a portable printing facility."

The MB200i, measuring just 130mm wide, 76mm deep and 90mm high and weighing only 395g, features a redesigned lightweight case, so it can be carried comfortably over the shoulder or attached to a belt. Less weight does not mean less strength, though, as the new model has been designed to be tougher than ever.

The new style battery prints twice as many labels as the original MB200 models, and is easier to charge and replace. Theres even an optional charger that can accommodate five batteries.

Print speeds of the new unit are the fastest in its class, say SATO - up to 103mm per second - but in operation the printer is quiet. It takes larger reels of labels a 67mm diameter roll - and they are quicker and easier to load.

The MB200i is ideal for price mark down systems in the retail sector, picking list systems in supply chain distribution and in the healthcare sector for blood tube labelling the plastic casing is impregnated with a material that kills micro-organisms.

"The performance of mobile printers has now improved so much, we can expect other sectors of industry to convert to them for the added convenience they offer," David added.

The MB200i comes with full after sales support from SATO UK, who also supply all labels and ancillaries from their Harwich, Essex manufacturing and administration HQ and a network of regional offices.
