Charles Hewson has been appointed Operations Director for Masternaut, the Leeds-based telematics and mobile resource management company.  Hewson joins from IBM where he headed major IT and corporate transformation projects latterly with National Grid Transco and a number of other blue chip companies.

Hewson will be overseeing daily operations, building strategic alliances and spearheading the implementation of Masternaut technology for large-scale implementations.  Prior to IBM, Hewson worked for Price Waterhouse Coopers Consulting and Yorkshire Water, where he also undertook an MSc course in Information Technology and Management.

Masternaut has grown five-fold in just two years and is now the UK's leading supplier of web-based services for managing vehicle fleets and mobile resources in the field.  Masternaut links satellite tracking and communications technology to mobile devices and real-time management software applications such as job despatch and dynamic scheduling.

"I have watched the rapid growth of Masternaut over the past two years it is a very exciting time to join. Telematics is increasingly becoming mainstream and the information that Masternaut provides so conveniently over the web combining both job and resource information on a single map is proving to be a real boon for businesses that depend on vehicles and mobile resources. I can foresee enormous potential for the company and hope my experience will ensure that we capitalise on the all of the opportunities out there" says Hewson.

"Charles brings us invaluable experience gained at IBM and elsewhere. It is fantastic to have someone of his calibre to join us at this crucial time in our growth" says Martin Port, Managing Director of Masternaut.
