BRAND LEADING TOUCH SCREEN AND PRINTER MANUFACTURERS JOIN FORCES TO OFFER UNRIVALLED RETAIL KIOSK

In a joint announcement made today, international POS printer manufacturer, Star Micronics, and brand-leading touch screen solutions developer, QCL, have announced a new self-service kiosk specifically for the retail sector, in which Stars flagship TSP700 is the specified printer.

The QCL 3800 Series was launched in the UK at this years Retail Solutions exhibition, bringing to market a versatile self-service kiosk that is compatible with desktop or wall mounted environments. The new model has a front cover made from a durable plastic that can reflect almost any required presentation, having been developed from material similar to that used for mobile phone covers. Its external appeal is complemented by the 3800s internal components design, which have been fitted to ensure quick and easy maintenance and servicing.

The Star Micronics TSP700 mirrors the 3800s adaptability, given its ability to output labels and barcodes as well as receipts and tickets and the ease of which paper rolls can be replaced and the mechanism, accessed. QCL also elected to standardise on the TSP700 because of its high speed (180mm per second) two-colour output, its proven performance reliability and its endorsement by leading retailers, including Argos and Costa Coffee.

Lee Jones, commercial director for QCL, commented on the manufacturers standardisation on the TSP700, With the Star printer we overcame all the issues faced with alternative printers which were bulky, prone to jams, very slow and configured to hinder easy maintenance. With the TSP700, we have none of those problems and some significant additional bonuses,

An integral facility, AutoLogo enables even novice users to instantly instigate and stop vouchers, coupons and marketing messages for output at POS. Users are merely required to attribute two digits to PC-based product descriptions to generate images on receipts specific to selected user transactions. AutoLogo is gaining considerable international renown because of its ease of use, sophistication and responsiveness, all without technical support or expensive system software changes.

Supplied as standard with a 15 integrated PC system, the 3800 is also available in a 17 version, the 3800 Series incorporates a 1024 x 768, 250/200 nits TFT LCD display, 15.1 resistive touch screen with RS-232 controller, 3.5 hard disk driver, up to 250Gb 7200rpm with 8Mb cache and up to 1Gb PC 133 SDRAM.
