Cylance Inc., the company that offers AI-powered prevention that blocks everyday malware along with today's most advanced cyberthreats, has signed a distributor agreement with Toshiba Corporation Industrial ICT Solutions Company Group (Toshiba Industrial ICT Solutions).
Working with Cylance Japan K.K., Toshiba Industrial ICT Solutions has launched sales of CylancePROTECT, an antivirus solution that leverages artificial intelligence (AI) to prevent the execution of malware at the endpoint.
Attacks by ransomware and other malicious programs have increased rapidly in recent years. CylancePROTECT is a revolutionary machine-learning platform that harnesses the power of artificial intelligence to detect and prevent the execution of such malware in real time. Unlike conventional antivirus products that use signatures to detect threats, CylancePROTECT pinpoints both known and unknown malware by breaking down files to the DNA level to analyze and classify millions of attributes per file.
Prior to the launch of sales, the Toshiba Group started in-house deployment in June 2016, installing CylancePROTECT on approximately 5,500 endpoints, including virtual desktop environments.
Benefits confirmed by testing
- Accurate detection of zero-day and variant ransomware and other malware that was missed by previously used conventional signature-based antivirus products
- Same detection capabilities confirmed in PCs that were disconnected from the company network and the Internet (mobile environment)
- Lighter resource use related to signature updates, regular scans, etc.
- Virtual desktop environments almost unaffected owing to extremely low CPU load
Commenting on the launch of CylancePROTECT sales to enterprise customers, Yoshikazu Ikito, General Manager, Product and Service Marketing Division, Toshiba Corporation Industrial ICT Solutions Company, said, "We are pleased to have begun selling CylancePROTECT. Endpoint security has become increasingly important in recent years, and I am convinced that the ability of CylancePROTECT to detect unknown malware and prevent it from executing makes it a powerful solution. The Toshiba Group itself has deployed CylancePROTECT both to further improve its security level and to gain expertise in its operation. We will make use of this expertise to help enhance customer endpoint security by providing CylancePROTECT along with related design, integration and operation services."
"I am delighted to have concluded a sales agreement with a proven company that has supported numerous companies and social infrastructure with ICT like the Toshiba Industrial ICT Solutions," said Morihiro Kinjo, Vice President of Japan Sales, Cylance Japan K.K. "Our vision is to protect all endpoints of the world from cyber attacks. In cooperation with Toshiba Industrial ICT Solutions, we will create even greater innovation and will strive to strengthen the security of many customer endpoints."
