Power management company Eaton has published a new white paper to help organisations set up an Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) maintenance strategy best suited to their circumstances.

Titled 'How to choose the right UPS service approach', the paper explores the pros and cons of four of the most common options in order to provide readers with comprehensive background information to enable them to maximise the protection provided by their UPS.

"As the paper makes clear, having access to maintenance is crucial for protecting business continuity," comments Fabio Mazza, Service Marketing Manager, Eaton. "Our own records show, that over 25 percent of preventive maintenance visits are followed up with corrective actions. This demonstrates the value that can be gained from having a service plan in place, as potential issues can be identified and addressed before they cause any disruption or, in the worst case, downtime."

All manufacturers' UPSs are complex devices that are critical to business operations yet even the best ones are potentially dangerous and subject to failure if not maintained properly. Finding and adopting the right approach will help operators avoid this risk, while enhancing return on investment and maximising the UPS's service life. Regardless of the exact course of action, a preventive maintenance plan is crucial for minimising disruption to business and extending the lifespan of critical equipment.

In addition to exploring various UPS service options, the white paper provides answers to the most common questions associated with choosing a service provider, helping users to select the right supplier and strategy to meet their needs.
