Arbor Networks Inc., the security division of Netscout, has entered into an agreement with Sweden's Elastx, an independent IT services and cloud platform provider, to enable Elastx to deliver distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) protection to its customers.

Elastx is now able to differentiate its services by offering the industry's leading portfolio of DDoS protection solutions, reducing its customers' risk profile by defending the network from dangerous application-layer and volumetric DDoS attacks.

Organisations today are heavily dependent on Internet connectivity to run their operations, making them increasingly vulnerable to network-based attacks. By outsourcing to Elastx's cloud platforms, which now include world leading DDoS protection from Arbor Networks, customers will further benefit by being protected by the industry's most proven DDoS mitigation technology.

"Our deal with Arbor is the result of customer-driven demand for advanced anti-DDoS services," said Henrik Grankvist, COO at Elastx. "It is encouraging to see that organisations in the Swedish public sector, as well as enterprises, recognise the scope and scale of the damage that such attacks can achieve. As a result, they are now mobilising to establish the best possible protection before they can be targeted."

"Application-layer attacks are typically hard to discover and manage since they often mimic legitimate events in the user interface," said Joakim Öhman, CTO of Elastx. "As a cloud services platform provider, we need to offer the best solutions possible also from a security perspective. The Arbor deal allows us to do just that."

"With the Elastx offering it will be possible for enterprises and organisations to identify and manage all types of DDoS attacks that threaten the availability of online services and business continuity," said Olli Lähteenmaa, Arbor Networks Territory Manager Nordics and Baltics. "Availability of websites, applications and services is as fundamental to a business today as electricity."
