ZyXEL NAS offers resellers relief from disk drive shortage

ZyXEL Communications UK, the broadband networking company, is putting the 500GB version of its NSA310 NAS appliance forward as a viable and affordable alternative to hard disk drives and other NAS products, which are presently in very restricted supply and only available at inflated prices, due to product shortages caused by the floods in Thailand.

 
Sales of NAS devices have more than doubled over the past two months as resellers, integrators and retailers look for a practical alternative to external drive units, prices of which have soared over the past few weeks. Although demand is much higher at present, ZyXEL has not altered the price of these entry-level units. James Harris, Product Manager for ZyXEL UK and Ireland, said: "The acute shortage of disk drives has left many resellers and retailers in a difficult position and unable to meet the higher levels of demand for additional storage capacity that we always see at this time of year. The NSA310 gives them a viable alternative and a solution they can offer and sell to their customers right away. We have a good stock of the 500GB units in our European warehouse at the moment and we do not expect supplies to diminish before the current crisis abates.
