Ingram Micro EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa), a division of Ingram Micro Inc., the global wholesale provider of technology products and supply chain management services, has acquired Aret Sistemas, a value-added distribution company headquartered in Barcelona, as well as the company's specialised solutions division,  Arkenova Sistemas.

Aret Sistemas is a Spainish distributor for HP value solutions (BCS, SWD, and HP Software), through which Ingram Micro EMEA will further strengthen its capabilities in server and storage, giving the company additional competitive advantage as well as market scale and expertise. Arkenova Sistemas specialises in Netapp, Symantec Enterprise solutions and Overland Storage.  In addition to the Barcelona headquarters, the company has offices in Madrid, Bilbao and Valencia.

Ingram Micro EMEA President, Alain Maquet, said, "This latest acquisition is our fourth in 12 months, and signals another step forward in our plan to build a strong value business across Europe. Aret and Arkenova bring strong brands and proven leadership in the Spanish market. Their team of 27 skilled professionals have well established customer and vendor relationships, and we are very pleased to be welcoming them to the Ingram Micro team."

Dominique Meyer, Ingram Micro's Vice President Southern Europe, will oversee the integration of Aret/Arkenova and its ongoing success. He said, "The team at Aret is well qualified and they possess extensive experience and the ability to deliver comprehensive customer solutions for both pre- sales, sales and post- sales support on HP value-added server and storage solutions. Existing customers will experience a seamless transition, and they will continue to enjoy the same level of superior service and attention as part of the Ingram Micro team in Spain."

Aret and Arkenova Sistemas owners Jordi Munoz and Alberto Pascual will also join Ingram Micro Spain, and will continue to lead the growth of the businesses. Munoz said, "Both Alberto and I are very pleased to be joining such a strong company with an excellent reputation in the marketplace. Ingram Micro's network and capabilities will help us bring our customers and vendor partners greater benefits and knowledge."

The value business is a strategic part of Ingram Micro's operations and this transaction represents another milestone in the company's overall pursuit of new value business and growth. In recent months Ingram Micro EMEA has announced it has strengthened its capabilities in the value space across Europe, including:

The acquisition of CCD, the leading distributor of mid-tier enterprise products in the UK market built on a strong HP franchise;

The acquisition of Albora Soluciones, a leader in the Spanish market in Citrix;

The acquisition of interAct,  the main distributor in Belux for Citrix;

Furthermore, in the first half of 2010 Ingram Micro EMEA expanded its HP value portfolio with Business Critical Systems agreements in Sweden and Hungary, adding to existing HP value agreements in Belgium and Spain. During this time the company has also secured IBM power server and high-end storage distribution rights in Germany, giving further strength to the value business in this significant market.

Aret and Arkenova Sistemas will operate as a separate value division within Ingram Micro Spain. The terms of the transaction, including purchase price, were not disclosed. The transaction is subject to customary closing conditions and is expected to close in January.
