Ingram Micro EMEA has signed a European-wide distribution agreement with IDAPT, a Spanish international mobile technology provider specialising in mobile device charging solutions. Under the terms of the agreement, Ingram Micro EMEA's telecommunications division will distribute IDAPT's range of universal charging solutions to retail and dealer customers.

"We are very excited to announce this international partnership with Ingram Micro," said  Jacques Giribet, founder and CEO of IDAPT.  "The agreement is a major step forward to increase the availability of our range of universal chargers in stores throughout Europe, making it noticeably easier for our growing European customer base to find our products."

Founded in 2006 in Barcelona, IDAPT develops an innovative wire-free charger that uses a pattented interchangeable tip system to charge more than 4000 devices directly and USB to cover more. Due to its original approach and innovative ideas, IDAPT won the HEC Startup of the Year 2008 award and was distinguished as an 'Innovative Enterprise" during the Mobile World Congress '09.

In 2010, IDAPT launched the new generation i4 charger. The product won the most prestigious awards in CE shows, including CES Innovations Design and Engineering Awards, CTIA Emerging Technology Awards and "Plus X" at IFA.

In its aim to provide a full eco-system of telecommunications offerings to resellers, Ingram Micro is actively seeking unique and innovative vendors to offer greater value to customers.

Pierre-Yvon Mechali, Executive Director and General Manager, Telco Division, Ingram Micro EMEA, said "IDAPT is a perfect addition to our growing suite of leading-edge mobile products and solutions. Their universal charger has been widely recognized for its ease, innovation and technical engineering. We are very pleased to be the first major broadline distributor in Europe to  partner with IDAPT and bring our retail and dealer customers this breakthrough technology."

Earlier this year, Ingram Micro EMEA launched a new telecommunications division, and under Mechali's leadership the company has established a team of telecommunications experts across Europe who are implementing tailored strategies in each country and receiving early positive recognition from the market. In November, Ingram Micro Netherlands was named the Best Telecom & Networking Distributor for 2010 at the CRN Channel Awards in Amsterdam. In early December the company announced it has become an official distributor of a full suite of BlackBerry smartphones, accessories, software and technical support services.

Through its telecommunications strategy, Ingram Micro EMEA will extend its logistics offerings with a tailored service offering designed to meet the resellers, retailers, Mobile Network Operators and Mobile Virtual Network Operators' expectations. In addition, Ingram Micro will augment its product line by significantly increasing its brand coverage in netbooks, smartphones and accessories across EMEA.
