New Motorola mobile and wireless managed services help maximise performance of Enterprise Mobility solutions


The Enterprise Mobility Solutions business of Motorola, Inc. has announced two new managed services, the Managed Infrastructure Service and the Managed Device Service,to help IT organisations remove the complexities of managingmulti-vendor wireless networks and devices, and help make mobilitysolutions accessible to more enterprise and government customers. With Motorola managed services,customers can benefit from predictable uptime, lower cost of ownershipand faster response and restore times when a fault is detected, as wellas asset investment protection.

Motorolas new ManagedInfrastructure Service combines the AirDefense InfrastructureManagement and Network Assurance solutions to provide both large ITorganizations and customers with limited IT resources withhighly-available, remote monitoring, management and troubleshooting oftheir wireless LAN (WLAN). The new Managed Device Service is a key component of Motorolas Device Management Framework,leveraging Motorola's Mobility Services Platform to provide customerswith comprehensive management of their mobile devices, including mobilecomputers, enterprise digital assistants and barcode scanners, and withthe expertise to maximise the availability of these assets across theirentire organisation.

Comprehensive, 24/7 monitoring andmanagement of the WLAN infrastructure, with proactive problemidentification and remote troubleshooting for high networkavailability, maximum performance and low total cost of ownership (TCO)
Fault management and monitoring of the wireless infrastructure foranomalies, with scheduled test results escalated as defined by theservices agreement
Configuration management activities for changesto both existing and new deployments as well as for network performancemonitoring, including reporting and advice for network optimization
Software release management services to remotely deploy software or firmware releases applicable to the WLAN infrastructure
Comprehensive on-site support, including deployment of highlyspecialised field engineering teams as well as professional hardwarerepair and replacement services

The new Managed Device Service leverages Motorolas industry-leading Mobility Services Platform toprovide customers with around-the-clock management of wireless devicesfrom multiple vendors, helping them meet service requirements and lowerthe TCO. It offers multi-lingual help desk services that provide afirst point of contact for users, with immediate support provided byhighly qualified Level 1 and Level 2 Motorola technicians who canperform remote troubleshooting and issue resolution with minimalend-user involvement. The Managed Device Service from Motorola ensuresongoing management of devices and enables time-based actions, such asprofile management, refreshes, and problem identification andresolution during downtime or when devices are not in use. Otherpotential actions include remote reset and reboot of devices when notin use, remote device diagnostics to ensure device availability andfunctionality, or fault identification, triage and remote remediationwhen possible.

As part of the Managed Device Service, Motorolaalso tracks and maintains detailed information about each mobile deviceso organizations can track the location and use of their assets, whilescheduled reporting and analysis provides organisations with insightinto their operational environment, helping to optimise the businessand investment. Stolen or lost devices can be quickly identified andwiped clean to help protect vital business data. Finally, customers canalso select Motorola to plan and execute software updates remotely,removing the need to physically return devices to a central locationfor update and refresh. Devices can be dynamically updated on demand,or based on an agreed rollout plan, providing customers with control oftheir environment and updates without burdening operational staff.
