Unitech, producer of rugged mobile computing products, expands its existing PA600 series with an EGPRS solution making it a real "Explorer".
The new version of the PA600, an extra robust mobile computer, now links the mobile worker directly with the back office, making it extremely useful for transport and logistics and in field services applications.
The Explorer version of the PA600 with embedded EGPRS, offering increased data transmission rates in comparison with standard GPRS, runs Windows Mobile 5.0 operating system and enables real time communications with host systems, improving efficiency and productivity in the field and increasing customer service with instant job status updates.
To ensure maximum mobility in field applications, Unitech equipped its PA600 Explorer with all necessary features such as a multifunctional keyboard allowing single handed use, LCD colour touch screen - both equipped with backlight to offer good readability in diffuse light situations, integrated barcode scanner, Bluetooth connectivity and an audible, visible and vibration function to provide feedback to the mobile workers. In addition the PA600 Explorer has sufficient memory to achieve complex applications at full speed or to store maps for route navigation software. Moreover Unitech offers a Car kit Cradle for securely storing the device inside a truck or car, offering quality, safety and comfort on the mobile workspace. Multiple connection ports allows the PA600 Explorer to connect directly with external devices such as printers or GPS devices.
Unitech has designed the PA600 with special attention for the ergonomics. Weighing just 290g, including the battery, it is the lightest rugged PDA in its class and fits perfectly in a shirt pocket. The design has the added advantage to ensure all day comfort to match. The PA600 is IP64 rated and thereby sealed against dust and moisture. Moreover this small but strong device can withstand a 1,2m drop to concrete.
Raymond Wolfert, Manager Sales and Marketing at Unitech comments: "Adding EGPRS to the already successful PA600 makes it a real Explorer. Packed with all the necessary features and accompanied with the new in-car mounting cradle, the PA600 Explorer is the ideal mobile computer for transportation and field service applications."
