BNE develop the MiniPOS mobile payment application for Casios DT-930 hand-held terminal and Zebra mobile printer

Casio Electronics major partner BNE Electronics has developed a mobile payment application for Casios DT-930 hand-held terminal.  The MiniPOS payment application is the perfect solution for smaller retailers on the move who handle many low value cash transactions during a typical trading period*.

Allowing the operator to sign on and record all products, the barcode on individual items can be scanned or recalled by PLU.  As the sale is being scanned, the system displays the quantity and value of each product.  Once all items are scanned a receipt is produced and payment is taken by the operator.  This application will also allow quick denominations to be calculated and accepted in different currencies.

At the end of the trading period, the terminal can download a batch file containing details of all the items that have been sold, using a USB cradle connected to a PC.  This information can be used to update stock records, allowing full stock and revenue control.

The MiniPOS application has been designed to work with the Zebra range of Bluetooth enabled mobile receipt printers, but is ideally suited to the recently launched entry-level MZ series. The Zebra MZ range of mobile receipt printers provides an economical solution for applications where quick, simple receipts are required and are therefore a perfect companion to the MiniPOS solution on the Casio DT-930.

The main features of the Casio DT-930 which make it eminently suitable for operation in locations where there is limited access to an electrical supply or a restriction of space are:

200 hours operation using 2 x AA batteries

4MB RAM to support a large product file

Bright backlight for use in low light conditions

Vibrator to assist the operator in noisy environments

Memory backup for one month in the event of main battery failing

Operating temperature range of -20C to +50C

         IP54 rated

Drop durability of 1.8 metres to concrete

         Light weight, approximately 225g

         100 scans per second

Dr Guy Boxall, Divisional Manager of Casio MTD comments that MiniPOS provides the ideal payment solution for small retailers operating within a mobile environment.  It will help them manage ECR responsibilities at the point of sale with barcode scanning, receipt printing and stock management all within one solution.

Dr Edward Duffin, Managing Director of BNE explains The renowned reliability and ruggedness of the Casio DT-930 terminal and the Zebra range of printers provide an ideal solution in mobile environments. Also, the system can be easily interfaced to third party systems via CSV or DBF files or ODBC data sources, e.g. Sage, thus making it easy for the implementation of a full stock control system at a competitive cost.

Mike Pitt, Regional Sales Manager for UK & Eire at Zebra explains With the continued growth of online shopping, the retail industry is more competitive than ever. The MiniPOS is queue busting technology which improves customer service. This is exactly how retailers can stay ahead of the competition while seeing quick ROI.
