Next-Generation Multimedia Device Cited in Excellence in Payments Innovation Awards

VeriFone Holdings, Inc. recently announced that it has taken a top prize at the European Payments Consulting Association (EPCA) and European Card Review (ECR) Excellence in Payments Innovation Awards 2005.  VeriFones multimedia MX870 solution was awarded Silver prize in the category Most Innovative Terminal Solution launched during 2005.   The awards ceremony took place on Tuesday 4 April at the EPCA Conference in Amsterdam.

The awards, now in their second year, were set up by the EPCA and leading payment cards magazine European Card Review to recognise the banks, sector vendors, telcos, merchants and processors that have made an outstanding contribution to Europes payments business during the year.  The EPCA, which judges the awards, is a pan-European association of consulting firms that provide expertise in payment systems and payment products. Members include Arti Strategic Consulting (Turkey), Innopay (Netherlands), Payment Systems Europe (UK), PaySYS Consulting (Germany), PlusCON Consultants (Denmark) and smartdreams (France).

We are delighted that the innovation of the next-generation MX870 has been recognised by the EPCA, said Nigel Bidmead, EMEA Managing Director for VeriFone. Product innovation is a cornerstone of VeriFones success and we are extremely pleased to have been selected as a winner in this key category.

The MX870 is the first of a new generation of integrated, multimedia devices, combining payment processing with full-motion video, a vibrant 65,536-colour display, and high quality digital sound to deliver unprecedented digital signage opportunities for branding, promotion and advertising at the Point of Sale.
