iANYWHERE LAUNCHES RFID Insider AS RESOURCE CENTRE FOR RFID DEVELOPERS

iAnywhere Solutions, Inc., a subsidiary of Sybase, Inc. (NYSE: SY), today announced the launch of a new web-based resource center for RFID developers. The site aims to deliver the software, tools, and educational content necessary to advance RFID development capabilities in the market and bring them to the mainstream. Tapping into the internal expertise within Sybase and iAnywhere as well as across its technology partners, RFID Insider will focus on the RFID technologies germane to commercial applications and will assist visitors in gaining an inside view into the issues, standards, and alternatives that impact RFID projects.

As a technology, RFID holds tremendous promise for improving productivity, quality, and safety across many industries, said Martyn Mallick, product director, iAnywhere. A major inhibitor to progress, however, is the immaturity and complexity of the technology involved. Standards are evolving rapidly and there are new dimensions to the problems being solved that are unfamiliar. We hope to shed some light on the issues and provide answers to developers interested in producing quality RFID solutions.

For those new to RFID, the site will feature a Getting Started section with basic information delivered in a variety of ways including white papers, Flash animations, and webcasts. A Developer Community will provide more in-depth and advanced information to registrants. Of special note, iAnywhere will make available a fully-functional Developer edition of its software product RFID Anywhere 2.0 (see separate announcement, in the fourth quarter of 2005. The Developer edition will allow the actual development of RFID prototype solutions that can be tested using the products data simulator, without requiring hardware or physical RFID readers and tags.  Other content planned for the Developer Community includes:

- A range of industry and technology white papers addressing common challenges encountered in RFID projects along with recommended solutions

- A newsgroup allowing community members to interact with each other as well as with Sybase and iAnywhere experts

- A slate of technical webcasts and software tutorials.
