NetDevices, Inc., a developer of services gateway products for enterprise branch networks, today announced that it has signed InterQuad Systems as its first distributor in Europe. The partnership will see InterQuad helping to create a new market dynamic with the emergence of the Lights On VAR (value added resellers) who will redefine branch networking by achieving unrivalled service levels and relationships with their customers.

InterQuad and NetDevices believe the vision of the Lights On VAR will emerge in tandem with the Lights Out branch office, which will herald a significant shift in the way that businesses structure IT. NetDevices SG-8 is the first in a new category of Business Gateway products that will enable this, replacing multiple point products for core branch office tasks such as networking, security and voice services with a single appliance that offers 100% availability and remote management while slashing operating expenses associated with branch office.

The market for purpose-built branch office multi-service devices is expected to grow worldwide to $16.6 billion in 2008, according to analyst firm In-Stat. Additional market research estimates that eighty percent of enterprise employees are now located at large branch and regional offices, and on average, each location contains on average 6.7 devices that must be maintained, upgraded, and serviced. Managing and securing branch networks is costly in both resources and expense for IT managers, particularly as critical applications and services delivery to the branch continue to grow year on year.

NetDevices and InterQuad are in process of recruiting 20 UK-based resellers with strong expertise in branch office networking and security before the end of 2005. Over the past decade, complexity in the branch office has reached a point where companies need to adopt a more strategic approach to managing the IT needs of their branch offices, commented Gordon Young, VP Europe for NetDevices.
