Handheld Europe announces Next generation TDS Ranger

Handheld Europe AB, based in Sweden, is now launching the next generation of Ranger - a new ultra rugged handheld computer for the European market. The Ranger is an extremely rugged product that meets or exceeds the IP67 and 810F military standards for drops, vibration, altitude, dust, corrosion and water immersion.

The next generation Ranger adds versatility and more features to the pioneering original and its already outstanding performance and is now available in two models. The Ranger 300X comes with a 312 MHz Intel XScale processor, 64 MB of SDRAM and 256 MB of embedded Flash. The Ranger 500X comes with a 520 MHz processor, 128 MB of SDRAM and 512 MB of embedded Flash. Integrated Bluetooth short-range wireless is standard on the Ranger 500X and optional on the Ranger 300X. Integrated 802.11b wireless is optional for both models.

The Ranger provides a display that is bright and clear in all lightning conditions, even direct sunlight. The waterproof unit combines military-grade durability with a Windows Mobile software for Pocket PC and has a rechargeable battery that operates 30-hours. The Ranger can quickly process even the most graphic-intensive applications and delivers that performance in the most challenging work environments. The Ranger is designed for all-day operation in extreme outdoor and industrial environments and handles extreme heat, up to +60 and extreme cold, down to -30. The rugged construction makes it ideal for public safety, field service, utilities, military and other outdoor or service-related applications.

- We are very excited about the next generation Ranger and believe that the unsurpassed ruggedness and versatility of the product will appeal to a broad customer base, says Thomas Lfblad, Director of Handheld Europe AB.
