20 - 21 April 2005 -- INDUSTRY LEADERS TO DEBATE THE FUTURE OF WI-FI

Europes largest public Wi-Fi conference and exhibition, The Wireless LAN Event, has released its 2005 programme and announced the launch of the Wireless Broadband Innovation Awards. The Wireless LAN Event, to be held between 20 21 April in London, brings together senior industry figures from Europe, Asia and the US. Participants at the conference range from start-ups, to US companies coming to Europe for the first time and the major established companies.

Wi-Fi is at the core of a range of industry developments including fixed and mobile convergence, the growth of Voice over IP, Video over IP and the new wave of wireless broadband services. Equally Wi-Fi and WiMAX are powerful disruptive technologies impacting both 3G and fixed broadband and with the potential to revolutionise enterprise productivity. These are all issues the conference will address by bringing together the people who are creating the market and providing them with an international platform to debate the future. said Piers Bearne, managing director Rock Media, the organisers of the WLAN Event.

The Wireless LAN event incorporates:

- a two day conference, (20 21 April) which will give an overview of the issues that will dominate the industry in the coming 12 months, and provide a platform for debate about the way the market will evolve. Speakers include: Ross Brennan, CEO Cicero Networks; Phil Chapman, UK Marketing Director, T-Mobile;Jeffrey Citron, Chairman and CEO Vonage; Chris Clark, CEO, BT Wireless Broadband; Dave Hagan, President, Boingo; Niklas Heuveldop, CEO, Service Factory; Jeroen Langendam, Vice-President Marketing & Business Partners, PicoPoint; Dan Lowden, Vice President of Business Development and Marketing, Wayport; George Polk, CEO, The Cloud; and Troy Simoni, CEO, Quiconnect.

- a seminar series (20 21 April) which includes case studies of some recent high-profile Wi-Fi implementations. The seminars are themed in three streams Mobility, Wireless Networking, and Broadband and Home. The sectors covered include government, legal, transport and leisure.

- a pre-conference summit meeting focusing on WiMAX (19 April). Issues to be addressed are market forecasts, regulatory developments and case studies of first deployments.

The inaugural Wireless Broadband Innovation Awards will also be held in partnership with the Wireless LAN Event and the winners will be announced at a ceremony at the Langham Hotel on the evening of 20 April 2005. The awards will recognise excellence and innovation in the field of Wi-Fi, mobile data and wireless broadband. (Separate release available).

WIRELESS BROADBAND INNOVATION AWARDS LAUNCHED
The Marketing Society and The Wireless LAN Event announce the launch of the Wireless Broadband Innovation Awards, a competition to recognise leadership, excellence and innovation in Wi-Fi, 3G/mobile data, WiMAX and wireless broadband.

Sponsored by Excilan and WeRoam, the Wireless Broadband Awards are held in conjunction with The Wireless LAN Event. The winners will be announced at a ceremony at the Langham Hotel in London on 20 April 2005. Nominations can be made on-line at www.wbiaward.com and will close on 21 February 2005.
