Sony promotion reducing initial costs on selected StorStation products

As part of its continued drive to encourage end users to experience the benefits of its Advanced Intelligent Tape (AIT) technology, Sony Storage Solutions today announced it is offering free media worth up to EUR910 - for every library, autoloader and SAIT drive purchased by 30th September 2004*.

Providing complimentary AIT 1, AIT 2 and AIT 3 media with capacities ranging from 35GB to 100GB, the 'Free Media' promotion provides customers with a full complement of media when purchasing Sony StorStation products. For the eight slot LIB81 and LIB-D81 autoloaders, seven AIT 2 or 3 media are available, whilst for the higher capacity sixteen slot LIB162 library, fifteen AIT 3 media can be claimed. As there is always one data media with the product, this add up to a full data media set for the SONY StorStation automation products.

For customers requiring more capacity and higher data throughput the offer extends to Sony's SAIT drives with five of the industry's leading cassettes, each offering 500GB capacity, able to be claimed when a SCSI or fibre channel drive is purchased.

By including a range of products within the promotion Sony is ensuring that customers with diverse storage requirements are able to benefit from the offer -experiencing reduced start-up costs and reaping the rewards associated with backing up to Sony's industry leading tape technology.
