EPSON helps Athena stay in the picture

Athena, the home decoration and objets d'art specialist, has invested in a new retail management system featuring EPSON's highly flexible, modular registers. The solution has been implemented in 14 of Athena's franchise stores in order to enhance its offer and improve customer service.

One of the major challenges facing Athena franchises is how to respond quickly to consumer needs, in an environment where best-selling lines are frequently changing. With a complex distribution chain and suppliers all over the world, Athena needed to ensure that its stock reflects customer profile, meeting demand and maximising revenue.

With this in mind, Athena implemented a solution compromising FuturaERS, from Berkshire-based solution provider Futura, and EPSON's MR-800. The system provides accurate sales and stock information along with a fast, efficient and reliable solution for the Point of Sale.

With its powerful Intel processor, the MR-800 ensures quick and easy transactions to keep customer waiting times down to a minimum. In addition, its modular and open design also allows Athena complete flexibility at the PoS, maximising the available counter space.

Simon Coates, franchise director of Athena commented: "It's been a huge bonus to have accurate sales data provided by the FuturaERS solution and this has proved enormously helpful when making buying decisions. Overall, the MR-800s have been easy to use and look good but the key as far as we were concerned has been reliability - since installing the systems, we have experienced next to no downtime. We now plan to extend the rollout to other Athena stores."
