Executive promotions at BlueStar

BlueStar has announced that Doug Bivins, current Chief Operating Officer, will retire effective 1 July 2023. Bivins will remain on BlueStar’s Board of Directors.

During his tenure, Bivins was awarded CFO of the Year for Large Companies in the Tri-State area. He helped to orchestrate significant global expansion, including seven acquisitions in Europe, oversaw operational expansion via new facility construction, and forged a foundation of innovative capabilities by bringing automation to its global warehouse functions.

“Doug has had an immeasurable, positive impact on our business,” states Steve Cuntz, President and Chief Executive Officer at BlueStar. “For nearly three decades, he has been instrumental in building BlueStar. Our customers, partners, and employees have all benefited from his leadership, resulting in a culture that values communication, rewards due diligence, and fosters lasting relationships. We are, as a whole, forever indebted to Doug for his service.”

Effective 1 July, Ryan Girvin will assume the role of Chief Operating Officer. Girvin joined BlueStar in 2001 as Corporate Controller for the Americas before being promoted to Vice President of Finance and, ultimately, Chief Financial Officer. Before joining the company, he served four years as an auditor with J.D. Cloud and Company. In addition to the role as CFO, he serves on BlueStar’s Board of Directors. Girvin earned his B.S. in Accounting at Louisiana Tech University.

“Ryan is a dedicated individual who is passionate about the success of our company and the health of the channel,” continues Steve Cuntz. “Over the years, he has proven his ability to drive results instrumental in the growth of our company while providing reliable, stable leadership. We are excited for Mr. Girvin’s continued leadership as COO and the future of BlueStar.”
