HR is an essential department in any business. The role of an HR team is to oversee employee benefits, manage talent acquisition, and coordinate training. They’re there to ensure employees feel safe, valued and that they can do their jobs effectively.

As such, issues outside of the workplace that affect employees, such as the cost-of-living crisis, are major considerations for HR professionals. They will try to factor in financial management benefits and education, for example, in a bid to counter issues like the economic crisis.

For HR teams looking to streamline processes and make things smoother, it’s worth considering introducing AI tools. There are several benefits that AI can bring to a business. Here’s a look at some of the main ones.

Automating tasks

A lot of everyday tasks carried out by HR teams can be time consuming. By introducing automated systems, it’s possible to channel HR professionals’ time into other tasks. This makes things a lot more efficient.

Some examples of areas that could be automated include payroll, where AI can assimilate the numbers easily, and holiday and sickness tracking, which can be a hugely time-consuming task, especially in larger organisations.

Time tracking is another area that could benefit from AI tools. Introducing automated solutions can help to manage employee schedules, quickly reviewing timesheets and flagging anything that could be missing.

Decision making

From payroll and financial reports to carrying out surveys, there are different areas of a business that HR uses cognitive decision skills in order to complete a task. With certain AI tools, it’s possible to allow automations to do the thinking for the HR team.

For instance, if an HR professional is carrying out performance reviews, it’s possible to created automated reminders about when a review is due. It can also carry out the review, matching up key performance indicators to targets. This removes any favouritism or human error and makes the process easier and fairer overall.

Talent acquisition

The talent acquisition process can take time and effort. From managing CVs to engaging with prospective talent, getting the right people in place is a lengthy process. However, AI can be used to whittle down candidates by flagging the resumes that match the criteria, arrange interviews, and even provide communication portals that allow prospective employees to ask questions during the recruitment process that HR professionals would usually have to answer.

All of this points to an easier way of getting the right people into the role.

Employee onboarding

As well as getting the new people into the business, AI can be used to make the onboarding process smooth. From initial training courses to details about employee benefits, automated systems can provide the new team members with everything they need to feel ready to start their new role.
