Datalogic, the Automatic Data Capture and Industrial Automation solutions provider, and producer of barcode readers, mobile computers, sensors, vision systems and laser marking equipment, has announced that long-time partner ExPD has chosen to recommend the DL-Axist to customers as the preferred hardware for its OmniPost internal mail solution.

For busy organisations the number of incoming items continues to grow exponentially. OmniPost is an application designed to be used by the post room to provide up to date, accurate proof of receipt and thereafter proof of delivery for virtually any item type being delivered to and from a post room.

"Internal mail management is a major administrative burden for many firms and it is not just business related mail that post rooms are having to deal with," explains Adrian Harris, sales director at ExPD. "With online shopping seeing explosive growth in recent years, our customers are also having to deal with onward delivery of personal mail that staff have had shipped to their place of work. The aim of our OmniPost solution is to simplify the process of managing incoming mail. Running on Datalogic's DL-Axist we can help post rooms to provide accurate and real-time visibility along with a full audit trail of all items received, moved and delivered."

The new DL-Axist is packed with features that complement the OmniPost software and is extremely intuitive to use. A 2D imager on board the device is capable of reading 1D and 2D bar codes that can be used to track individual items. Once an item reaches its final destination within the organisation, a signature can be captured via the DL-Axist's touchscreen display. The device will then transfer the information to an online portal with proof of delivery and any other important information. The status of the item will then change from 'outstanding' to 'delivered' and a proof of delivery report is generated.

In addition to obtaining proof of delivery, identifying and capturing evidence if an item arrives damaged is an essential part of the post room function and provides an additional level of customer service. The DL-Axist enables users to capture a photograph of the item showing any damage so that the appropriate action can be taken.

"ExPD has a long standing relationship with Datalogic and we have been working together for over 20 years," continues Harris. "Time and time again, Datalogic has provided us with reliable hardware that ensures our customers can maintain full visibilty of their operations and we are confident that the new DL-Axist device will continue this trend. More importantly all Datalogic's devices are backed up by an extremely efficient and very knowledgable team, giving us complete peace of mind that our customers will receive the best possible ongoing support for their hardware."

Steve Clapham, Sales Manager, Transport & Logistics at Datalogic concludes, "Datalogic's vision is to develop data collection solutions that empower organisations to deliver a better standard of service to their customers and drive operational efficiencies across their business. We are delighted that ExPD has chosen to recommend the new DL-Axist for use with its OmniPost solution and hope that many post rooms will benefit from the joint solution."
