eScan Corporate reports that it provided the real time protection solution to ensure more than 2,000 retailers have a fast, reliable connected computer network.

Developed by Microworld, eScan Corporate provides protection against current and evolving cyber threats due to its encompass Anti-Virus, Anti-Spyware, Content Security, Anti-Spam, and Network Intrusion Prevention solutions. Incorporated in the USA with offices worldwide, they are represented in the UK by The Change Organisation, a specialist IT distributor of global brands.

With a challenge to keep its 2,000 stores' computer network virus-free, Nisa Retail Limited required a system which offered a flexible, comprehensive solution in terms of security and administration. Nisa Retail is a unique member-owned organisation, helping independent retailers remain competitive in the food and drinks markets. It represents more than 1,134 registered shareholders, providing a service which enables retailers to trade under their own fascia.

To ensure Nisa retailers are able to operate their stores efficiently, an effective Electronic Point of Sale System (EPOS), Epositive is housed in every store. This is designed to integrate with Nisa's product file, promotion structure and ordering site to minimise time spent at the PC.

With more than 2,000 connected systems keeping the network free from viruses and ensuring Payment Card Industry (PCI) Compliance was among the biggest challenges the IT team faced. This escalating issue led to frequent system failures and downtime which affected members' trading.

Wayne Swallow, NISA Retail's IT Director, commented: "There was no way by which we could implement, control and monitor all devices with existing resources."

Following a review of the company's network topology, eScan Corporate was specified as a solution to serve all necessary security requirements for devices connected to the members' store and head office network. The resultant improved security led to all signature updates being delivered when an internet connection was detected. eScan's advanced built-in reporting feature, which can be scheduled by admin, also proved popular with staff. Easy to install and deploy across all devices on the network, eScan Corporate allows administrators to remotely address issues without the need of having to attend individual PCs. It has helped reduce Nisa Retail's administrative costs by 40 per cent.

Speaking of the benefits of eScan Corporate, Wayne Swallow commented: "Administrators defined security standards are maintained on all devices irrespective of their connectivity with the eScan server, and mail alerts are sent to Administrators or Process Managers in case of violation of a policy or in the event of a virus outbreak, thus ensuring the security of the system was never compromised or penetrated."
