Italtel, the TLC products manufacturer and Cisco, the IT technologies provider, are working together on emerging Internet of Things (IoT) paradigm, creating valuable use cases for their customers. The announcement was made at Cisco Live!, the event dedicated to Cisco customers and partners held in Milan (26-30 January).
Leveraging Cisco's groundbreaking hardware and software technologies, for the past couple of years Italtel has taken up its path to IoT and, in particular, to developing Smart Grid solutions for electric utilities.
By delivering solutions tailored on customers' requirements, Italtel appropriately increases the value of Cisco's proposition by means of a complete set of high-quality, specialized professional services. The traditional Plan-Design-Implement service lifecycle is specifically enriched by Advisory services that build a bridge between customers' needs and vendors' portfolio, by leading the customers to the best technological choices, while driving the selected vendors to enrich their products with the specific features required for this context.
Since 2014 Italtel has been extending its IoT solution catalogue also to the Manufacturing market. Network and IT technologies can provide real-time insight into manufacturing processes and allow manufacturers to satisfy customers' demands more quickly, while reducing operating costs. Smart Manufacturers can create value by opening their industrial plants to IT enterprise applications enabling an effective interoperability, and by leveraging Italtel networking and ICT expertise, in terms of network security, wi-fi coverage, data center and analytics management. To approach this market Italtel has defined a common strategy with selected partners like Rockwell, a leading company in the Industrial Automation sector.
Because of the substantial commitment that Italtel is spending on the IoT sector, Italtel was awarded the "Cisco Partner of the Year Award for EMEAR for Internet of Things Solutions 2014".
"Italtel steadily believes the IoT can help industries to transform their operating strategies, thus gaining competitive advantage", comments Camillo Ascione, head of Italtel's System Integration Strategy & Marketing. "Thanks to Cisco's innovative technology, we are actively working on several verticals, such as energy, manufacturing and transportation, partnering with our customers to drive their evolution towards IoT. We are proud of being awarded this prestigious prize that motivates us to go further on this path, also approaching other verticals, like Retail and Real-Estate."
