Toughshield, the global provider of rugged smartphone devices, has appointed Mark Davis as Strategic Planning Director and Paul Murphy as European Service Manager. Reporting to Stig Hansen, Commercial Director, Davis will be responsible for planning and developing Toughshield's strategic goals and objectives. He will work closely with department heads to develop channel, sales and marketing strategy. Davis will also be involved in Toughshield's application partner programme. Davis joins from Honeywell Scanning & Mobility where he was EMEA Market Development Manager having previously held senior roles in business development and sales for Panasonic Toughbooks and Intermec.

Commenting on his new role Davis said: "The consumerisation of the enterprise rugged device market is creating exciting go-to-market opportunities for those companies that can move quickly to meet customer demand. Toughshield is uniquely placed to leverage this, whereas the traditional players are less nimble and do not have the speed and pedigree in consumer device production, look and feel or user experience. Toughshield has a unique blend of consumer and rugged experience and I look forward to helping the company to take full advantage of the opportunities in the market."

Stig Hansen welcomed Davis's appointment saying: "Mark understands the rugged mobile sector. His industry experience and business development skills will be invaluable as we work to meet the growing demand for ruggedised enterprise smartphones."

Joining at the same time as Davis, Murphy will report to Gabriel Tran, Product Planning and Development Director. Murphy will be responsible for service operations across Europe bringing previous customer service experience from Honeywell Scanning & Mobility, Intermec and Motorola.

Commenting on his new role Murphy said: "During the 12 years I've worked in the Auto ID industry the importance of good customer service has been pushed to the forefront and is very often a key deciding factor when purchasing new hardware. My aim is to develop a first class service operation to support our channel partners and their end user customers."

Gabriel Tran "Paul knows the importance of excellent customer service when building a successful international sales operation. He has worked with the largest distributors and resellers in the market and I'm delighted he has decided to join Toughshield to help grow our business across Europe."
