Retail Business Technology Expo (RBTE) has boosted its international reach and retail credentials with the appointment of Richard Mader to its executive team.  As the RBTE representative in USA, Mader will encourage the  most notable and innovative retailers to present at RBTE raising the educational value and vendors to exhibit ensuring retail attendees can find the "right" solution for their unique requirements.

Mader brings with him over 40 years of experience in the retail industry and is a well known industry figure thanks to his former role as Executive Director of the Association for Retail Technology Standards (ARTS), a division of the National Retail Federation. ARTS was founded in 1993 to lower the cost of retail technology through standards.

Nick Field, Event Director, Retail Business Technology Expo, said, "We're delighted to welcome Richard to the RBTE team.  He was one of our earliest supporters when we launched the show and was integral in building the strong relationship that we now enjoy with ARTS & the NRF.   His experience and contacts with the retail industry in the US and across Europe will prove invaluable.  He is recognised as a leader in Retail Information throughout the world having made presentations at Retail and Distribution conferences in the US, South Africa, Europe, UK, and Japan."

"Having seen the team at RBTE grow the show so successfully since its launch in 2011, I'm looking forward to being part of such a dynamic organisation.  They are passionate about delivering the very best event possible for the retail industry, and work closely with retailers, vendors and other retail stakeholders to ensure all enjoy maximum benefits from attending and exhibiting.   I'm confident that the 2013 event will take RBTE to the next level." Mader commented.

Prior to founding Mader International Consulting in 1999 to serve in the ARTS role, Mader was SVP and CIO for Boscov's and Bon-Ton Department Stores, Director of Corporate Systems for Federated Department Stores and Manager of Programming and Operating Systems for McCrory's. While a retail CIO he was a member of the NRF CIO Council for over 15 years.   As the Executive Director of ARTS, Mader led the development of the first Standard Data Model for Retail, now in use around the world, and the Unified Point of Service (UnifiedPOS) Standard, a specification for connecting over 36 different peripheral devices to a sales terminal with minimal, if any, programming changes or integration costs.  Most recent accomplishments are managing the development of educational white papers on SOA, Cloud Computing, Mobile in Retail and Social Media.
