Foseco finds a single solution for labelling in multiple territories

Foseco, supplier of products and services to the foundry and steel making industries and the foundry business of Vesuvius, has implemented the Ultimate Platinum labelling system from Episys, the global information technology solutions and services company, in a bid to standardise labelling across all sites in Europe and become Unicode compliant, meaning all foreign languages can be printed from a single source.

Foseco will gain a raft of benefits from adopting Ultimate, most notably, shorter processing times, compliance with industry regulations and clear branding.
Vesuvius GmbH is about to implement a new Warehouse Management System at their site in Borken, Germany which required an upgrade to their existing U Ultimate labelling software to enable 2D Data Matrix codes to be printed. At the same time the IT team in Germany needed to bring the Ultimate labelling software in line with corporate IT standards and make it compliant with Microsoft SQL database.
Uwe Vorholt, IT Manager Applications Europe, at Vesuvius, said, "Foseco was acquired by Cookson and merged into Vesuvius in 2008. Foseco had already implemented the Ultimate and we wanted to standardise all labelling across our Foseco sites and this solution seemed the best option for the business. We wanted to have a standard software solution in place, after evaluating the market we felt that the Episys system was the best fit for our business. The system is centrally hosted and connected to our ERP system."
Vorholt continued, "A big benefit the business has seen since implementing Ultimate is that now all labels printed are consistent reinforcing our cooperate identity, this is good for our customers. We ship to 30 different countries so we need our labelling system to cope with the various language requirements. We also ship a number of hazardous chemicals and it is imperative to have all the correct information displayed including text that is legally required to be displayed. Episys has allowed us to add this into our database and their support has been faultless throughout the process."
Derek Buchanan, Chief Executive Officer at Episys, said, "Consistent communications in multiple territories is critical to any company in the chemical business, for safety, compliance and customer satisfaction, and our solution has enabled Vesuvius  to meet all these requirements from a single source as well as add new benefits."
