Christopher Peskin appointed as New Chief Technology Officer with Handheld Group

The Handheld Group, manufacturer of rugged PDAs and mobile computers, has appointed Christopher Peskin as Chief Technology Officer (CTO).  Peskin brings more than 15 years of valuable industry experience to Handheld, from Hewlett Packard and Trimble.


 
Peskin starts his position as new CTO immediately, and will be based at the Handheld US office in Corvallis, Oregon. He brings an extensive 15-year background in mobile computing and rugged device product development and started his engineering career developing firmware for Hewlett Packard's notebook PC products. Peskin has cultivated an industry focus, holding several technical and management positions leading development of wirelessly connected ARM and x86 computing products.
 
Most recently Peskin was the PMO (Project Management Office) Manager for Trimble's line of rugged data collection devices. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering from Rochester Institute of Technology, and is a PMI-certified Project Management Professional.

The appointment of Peskin as Handheld's CTO coincides with the latest recruitment of Johan Hed as Product Manager and signals an increased focus on product development.

Handheld's line-up of rugged PDAs and mobile computers are specifically developed for use in tough environments in industries such as  geomatics, logistics, forestry, public transportation, construction, mining,  field service, utilities, maintenance, public safety, military, and security.
 
The need for mobility is increasing in today's working environment, especially outside the traditional office environment, creating a growing demand for Handheld's products. Increasing availability and affordability of wireless broadband is driving market growth of rugged mobile computers and handheld devices. Handheld is the fastest growing manufacturer of rugged mobile computers in the world, a market that is growing at 8.6% per year.
