Handheld's new Algiz XRW rugged notebook now available with touchscreen

Handheld Group, supplier of rugged mobile computers, has announced the launch of its Algiz XRW rugged notebook with a touchscreen that makes the 'best in class' computer even easier to use. The ultra-mobile Algiz XRW with its cutting edge technology and communication possibilities is the best value rugged notebook on the market.

The Algiz XRW is a fully rugged notebook with a 10.1-inch widescreen sunlight-readable display featuring MaxView screen technology which provides spectacular screen clarity and brightness in any outdoor condition, even direct sunlight. The new touch-screen will enhance user experience, making computing faster and easier. The Algiz XRW is one of the lightest and most compact rugged notebooks on the market, weighing in at a mere 1.5 kilos, or 3.3 lbs.

The full-featured and lightweight Algiz XRW presents an array of mobile capabilities. The Algiz XRW comes standard with Bluetooth, WLAN and GPS often add-ons elsewhere as well as a built-in 2-megapixel autofocus camera that allows video conferencing in the field.

Its keyboard and mouse-touchpad, illuminated by two led lights, are fully sealed, and it carries an IP65 rating against sand, dust and water. It passes MIL-STD-810G ruggedness testing, including drop tests from 1.2 meters, and can also handle extreme temperatures from -20 C to 55 C.

The Algiz XRW has a powerful 2 GHz Intel Atom processor. It includes a 64 GB solid state disk and 2 GB of DDR2 RAM. The Algiz XRW runs the Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate operating system, just like any PC in an office.

An optional 3G modem provides high-speed UMTS/HSDPA/EVDO data transmission. The Algiz XRW is ready for Gobi 2000 technology which means it is possible to work on any choice of wireless frequency anywhere in the world. The 57.6 Wh battery works for 8 hours on a single charge.
