Canon, the imaging solutions provider, has announced the launch of the latest version of uniFLOW, a single platform to manage print and scanning processes. uniFLOW v5.1 creates new revenue opportunities for Canon partners by providing more integrated print and scanning management solutions across multiple platforms, including mobile devices like smartphones and tablets.

By extending the uniFLOW platform to mobile, Canon are helping users to print from their mobile devices and remotely, partners are able to meet the demand from their customers for innovative solutions that help them work more flexibly.

uniFLOW v5.1 gives partners the tools to optimise the print and scanning infrastructure of any business, by supporting both Canon and third party hardware. This means partners can also support customers with multi-brand printer fleets, helping them to make the most of their existing IT investments. Partners can now apply security features such as embedded print release and user authentication, as well as device monitoring and cost tracking, to Canon and third party multifunctional devices (MFDs).

Phil Strefford, Document Solutions Pre-Sales Consultant at Canon partner, Azzurri Communications Ltd said: "Technology is rapidly evolving and we've recently seen a proliferation of mobile devices within the workplace.  While this provides users with a much more flexible approach to working, it also brings new challenges to printing. The development of uniFLOW v5.1 will not only provide users with the ability to print from their mobile devices, but more importantly the ability to do so in a secure, managed environment."

"uniFLOW allows organisations to control print costs, secure company data and improve the efficiency of business imaging including print and scanning. As such it's already a powerful proposition for partners to add value to their clients," said Tracey Fielden, Channel Marketing Manager, Canon . "Canon works closely with customers and partners to continuously develop the uniFLOW platform in line with customer requirements. uniFLOW v5.1 gives our partners an opportunity to meet customer demand for solutions that help their staff to work remotely and with more flexibility. uniFLOW is a comprehensive package that goes beyond simple output management, offering innovative functionality and enabling partners to deliver real value to their customers through personalisation."

uniFLOW v5.1 also opens up attractive sales opportunities in specific vertical markets, including education, local government, hospitality and transportation. A university, for example, can establish a flexible, robust and fully chargeable print infrastructure for its students. uniFLOW can integrate with existing payment card systems to track printing that originates from a mobile, laptop or desktop, or jobs that are sent to print on campus or remotely from their Gmail or university email account. The same set-up can apply for hotels and transport hubs such as airports where customers want the option to print on-demand.

uniFLOW v5.1 will be available in the UK and Republic of Ireland from October 31 2011.
