ScanSource Europe has announced AppSource, an online store that gives resellers convenient access to a library of mobile data collection applications for a range of terminal devices by multiple manufacturers.
With AppSource, resellers have access to "off-the-shelf" mobile data applications that are hardware and operating system independent and can easily be customised to fit end-user customers' needs. Resellers can configure host communications, simulate the application on a PC, load and test the application on a mobile data terminal, and run the application on-site for evaluation, all at no cost. Once the solution is ready for implementation, the reseller can purchase the appropriate licensing option and activate each terminal for use.
AppSource is set to benefit the small and medium business segment where it is often cost prohibitive to develop custom software applications.
"AppSource reinforces our partnership focus," said Xavier Cartiaux, President, ScanSource Europe. "We are setting up a product platform with the support of our vendors that allows developers to find a wider audience for their applications and resellers to provide complete mobility solutions, while uncovering opportunities to increase margins. We have established a more efficient way to bring software to market that benefits the entire channel."
Partners with expertise in application development are eligible to become AppSource application providers, creating their own AppSource applications for certification and sale on AppSource and helping to grow the AppSource community's library of Auto ID applications.
AppSource applications are only available to ScanSource resellers.
