BitDefender, provider of internet security solutions, has announced that its Security for Mail Servers anti-spam software has passed the Virus Bulletin Spam (VBSpam) test for the ninth consecutive time.
Over an eight day period, Virus Bulletin relayed both spam and legitimate messages in real time then analysed spam catch rates for image and large spam plus false positives. BitDefender recorded 0% false positives, a detection rate of 99.91% and earned the highest final score based on Virus Bulletin's formula.
"I like it when developers have confidence in their product and BitDefender's developers demonstrated plenty of confidence when they were among the first to submit their product to the VBSpam tests in the early days," said Martijn Grooten, Anti-spam Test Director at Virus Bulletin. "Despite this, they have never stopped trying to find ways to improve the product and have always been eager to hear feedback on its performance."
"At BitDefender we're constantly working to ensure our customers have the best spam-fighting technology in the industry," said Carmen Mitrica, Head of Antispam Lab at BitDefender. "We are thrilled to see our technology innovation and security research pay-off with success in a very challenging series of VBSpam tests. The consistency with which we have been able to achieve high marks verifies BitDefender's potency when it comes to blocking spam and demonstrates how we continue to define the standard for spam protection."
