Clinton Cards works with Psion Teklogix and The Barcode Warehouse to digitise inventory management in high street stores

Psion Teklogix, a global provider of mobile computing solutions, and The Barcode Warehouse, the enterprise mobility solutions provider, have announced that Clinton Cards Group has selected the Psion NEO mobile computer as a key element of its ongoing upgrade of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) across the organisation. The device will be used for electronic data capture across a broad range of applications including goods receipting, range planning and price checking.

Clinton Cards initially approached The Barcode Warehouse when considering a new solution as they were attracted to the company's unbiased approach to mobile computing hardware vendors. Several devices were suggested by The Barcode Warehouse, but the NEO's combination of outstanding ergonomics, light weight and full feature set made it the clear leader.

Richard Wilson, Group Information Systems Manager, Clinton Cards, commented, "This is an exciting time for Clinton Cards as we take the final step in implementing our enhanced ERP solution. The use of the Psion NEO mobile device supports full stock ordering and control and out of the options we had available this was the clear choice. Up until this stage we have not been using handheld technology in our stores so this is a major move forward for us as a business."

John McMeeking, Director of Business Development, Psion Teklogix, commented,  "Clinton Cards is  carrying out a major shift in its in-store operations and needed to be sure  it was  using the most appropriate hardware.  When working with a solution provider such as The Barcode Warehouse our products are often presented alongside those of our direct competitors.  By working closely with The Barcode Warehouse this was a great opportunity for Psion Teklogix to demonstrate the advantages of our products directly to the customer. We look forward to ensuring the smoothest transition possible for Clinton Cards and hope to continue and expand this relationship in the future."

"Clinton Cards trialled the NEO in selected stores to ensure it was the right solution for them," explained Clive Fearn, Sales and Marketing Director, The Barcode Warehouse.  "The combination of the device's long battery life, advanced laser scanning functionality and its adaptable design around  screens, keyboards, grips and accessories, plus the ability to scan different barcodes and images,  meant that Psion Teklogix offered the best combination of price and performance."

"The key to success for this project has been down to our ability to work  closely with The Barcode Warehouse and to provide the necessary support ensuring that Clinton Cards deployed the right hardware solution for its business. The NEO has some unique features which really helped it stand out from the crowd, not least of which is the special pistol grip module, which can be added and removed very simply making it the most flexible in the category," concluded John McMeeking, Director of Business Development, Psion Teklogix.

The initial roll out will take place in September and all 1,100 units will be deployed by December 2010.
