Newly patented technology 'reaffirms AhnLab position as premier provider of online banking security'

AhnLab Inc., provider of integrated security solutions, has announced the issuance of Korea Intellectual Property Office (KIPO) Patent No. 10-2008-0007159: "Protection System and Method for Internet Websites." The newly patented technology enhances the already stalwart AhnLab Online Security END POINT Security Service ensuring safe transactions by protecting personal information on online banking sites.

 
"As online banking and e-commerce grows in popularity around the world, internet banking security threats by cyber criminals are also, unfortunately, increasing in number and sophistication", said Mr. Hongsun Kim, CEO of AhnLab. The latest patented technology is specifically applied to Secure Browser, one of four key components that comprise AOS, and defends against hackers and malware programs by blocking access to the memory area allocated to Secure Browser. The technology ensures the privacy of online transactions by virtually eliminating illegal leakage or manipulation of user account and transaction information.
 
Different from traditional detection-and-elimination methods utilised by other security products, AOS is a real-time internet banking protection and prevention security solution effective against hacking tools such as Zeus considered the most market-threatening malware today. The AOS Secure Browser starts automatically as soon as a user logs on to an online banking site, in conjunction with the Anti-Key Logger, Firewall and Anti-Virus/Spyware programs. This approach to internet banking security is said to render ineffective even the most malicious codes such as Zeus and its variations.
 
In addition to the KIPO, AhnLab is in the process of obtaining patent approval from the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), and also plans to file applications with countries in the APAC and EMEA regions.
