BlueStar acquires Impuls ID Distribution

BlueStar, the global distributor of technology solutions, has completed the purchase and acquisition of Impuls ID Distribution, a Sabadell, Spain, global distributor of Automatic Identification, Security and Identification Card and specialty application products, effective January 1, 2010.

"The completion of this transaction strategically aligns both BlueStar and Impuls on three continents," says BlueStar CEO, Steve Cuntz. "BlueStar and Impuls value-added resellers will now have access to greater inventory choices and availability, innovative marketing resources, and the best technical support in the industry."

Impuls currently operates distribution facilities in Spain, France, Latin America and North America. It provides engineering, technical service, and marketing support for its value-added resellers. As part of this acquisition, Impuls will continue to distribute products for Identification and Tracking, ID Security/Badge solutions, and CD-DVD Systems under the BlueStar umbrella.

The Impuls management team will have accelerated management roles with expanded regional responsibilities.  Its CEO, Albert Baranera, has been appointed as President of BlueStar Latin America. At Impuls ID, Baranera focused on managing their expansion into new territories with the addition of subsidiaries and extended lines of products and brands. Frederic d'Orsay has been appointed as General Manager of BlueStar's Southern EMEA region.

"I have proudly accepted the opportunity to join two successful business teams with proven expertise within the Latin American market," says Baranera. "This acquisition gives us the ability to offer our VARs even more complete solutions and extended services, specifically designed to meet the needs of the ADC, Mobility, Point-of-Sale, RFID, and Security vertical markets."

This acquisition follows two recent BlueStar purchases of ADC Nordic in Scandinavia and PSD PrintScan of Germany. ADC Nordic officially became BlueStar Nordic while PSD PrintScan became BlueStar Europe, effective May 2009 and July 2008, respectively. Together, these acquisitions allow BlueStar to expand its global leadership and portfolio throughout the EMEA marketplace while continuing to maintain local focus.

"These combined resources give us the strength to provide our manufacturing partners in Europe, North America, and South America with a strong and committed distributor as we forge ahead into a new decade," says BlueStar Vice President of Global Distribution, Bill Nix.
